Pad Man starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte has an important story to tell. The film is based on the real-life story is a fictionalized account of Tamil Nadu-based Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created affordable sanitary napkins for the women of his village. Pad Man has finally arrived at the movies and has got a thumbs up from b-town. Stars are not just been going gaga over the superstar talking about the taboo around menstruation but they even gave their support to the Pad Man challenge and its aim to create awareness about periods.
The film has got a decent star at the domestic box-office confirmed Trade analyst Taran Adarsh on social media.
He shared the numbers on Twitter and wrote, “#PadMan has a DECENT start... Fri 10.26 cr... The biz, expectedly, picked up towards evening/night shows... The journey ahead is crucial... Sat + Sun should witness strong growth for a good weekend total... India biz."
Pad Man opening day status is quite similar to Akshay Kumar’s last film with a social message 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' which had also opened with 11-12 crores collections on Day 1 as well. According to box-office India report, the film is doing better in the cities as compared to smaller towns. With Padmaavat still waiting to hit theatres in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and Padmaavat, Pad Man has good chances to fair better there.
But Akshay Kumar is immensely proud of the film and the fact that his wife Twinkle Khanna introduced him to real Pad Man. While Padmaavat seems unstoppable at the box-office with 236 crores earnings in two weeks of its release, it'll be interesting to see how Pad Man Akshay Kumar's entry in theatres will affect collections for Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
