US President Donald Trump has said that he will work towards solving the Immigration issue for permanent once the government is funded. He asserted that he will keep the interests of US citizens while making a long-term deal on immigration.
"As I have always said, once the government is funded, my administration will work towards solving the problem of very unfair illegal immigration. We will make a long-term deal on immigration if, and only if, it is good for our country," Trump said in a statement.
Trump's comments came soon after the Democrats voted in the Senate to end the government shutdown, which lasted for three days. The Democrats agreed to have a debate with the Republicans on the immigration issue in order to end the federal government shutdown.
