Mahender Reddy appointed full time DGP of Telangana in-charge Director-General of Police M. Mahender Reddy has been appointed as full time DGP of Telangana.Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao signed on the file pertaining to Mahender Reddy’s appointment as the full time DGP on Monday.
The State Legislature had passed an Act recently enabling the State government to appoint its DGP. Based on this Act, the State government has appointed Mahender Reddy as the DGP. He is an 1986 Batch Ips Officer who served as Hyderabad City Police Commissioner.
Born on December 3rd 1962 Mahender Reddy is a native of Khammam District. Sri. Mahender Reddy is a Graduate in Civil Engineering from NiT Warangal, While pursuing M.Tech in IIT New Delhi Mahender Reddy Got Selected to Indian Police Service, he also obtain master’s degree in public personnel management from Osmania University when he was in Service .
Mahender Reddy served as Assistant SP of Godavarikhani in Karimnagar and Guntur town, Additional SP of Bellampally in Adilabad and SP of Nizamabad and Kurnool districts. He was East zone DCP in Hyderabad commissionerate for three years from 1995. He has served as a faculty member at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad and has gone on study tours to the USA and the UK to acquaint himself with police systems in those countries.
While as a commissioner of police he won laurels for starting various programmes for the safety and security of citizens to name few Friendly Policing, CCTV cameras installation etc.
