As per highly reliable sources, a major section of the Telugu film industry is coming down heavily on media outlets. Even in yesterday's high-profile meet held at Annapurna Studios which saw the attendance of Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Naga Chaitanya, Nani and almost all the actors, stars available in Hyderabad, a major section reportedly vouched for imposing a ban on popular media outlets. Especially the target is a few reputed news channels. This is in the wake of Pawan Kalyan's open call to 'ban' TV9, ABN, TV5, Mahaa news channels.
Stars said to have discussed various things pertaining to media and the whole discussion said to be made around 'how to control media'. A few people in the meet went to 'abuse media' and 'media persons' and said to have made strong allegations.
One such strongly heard allegation from a section of industry people is that 'Media is surviving only on Film Industry'. They're of the opinion that media is 'making money" through the content produced by the Film Industry i.e 'teasers, trailers, promos, songs' and also 'creating content on films such as news, gossips, reviews'. In addition to this, it is alleged that the ad revenues from the film industry are allegedly contributing more to the channels, media outlets.
The majority of the film circuits in yesterday's meet are reportedly in favor of making new rules, guidelines and implement them to put a check to media. Naturally, media has been 'shunned' from this private meet.
Pawan Kalyan Behind Ban on Media
It is buzzed that it was Pawan Kalyan who is behind the sudden meeting called by Chiranjeevi. Apparently, Chiru himself personally telephoned each and every one of stars to attend the meet in Annapurna Studios. Apparently, Pawan is mounting pressure on megastars such as Chiru, Charan, Allu Arjun and mega-producer Allu Aravind to make sure to give a strong counter to media after Sri Reddy episode.
Pawan has been dragging media into the whole issue and has been solely targeting it very personally. He now wants entire Tollywood to support his cause and take steps to 'control' media.
Not Complete Ban
It is heard that the ban will not be complete. It will come with some restrictions. This is what they're right now discussing. In fact, the Telugu film industry wants to divide media and rule. It wants to 'gain' from the competition between media outlets and wants to take stern action against a few thus favoring others. It needs to be seen how the entire media fraternity would respond, tackle the whole situation.
