Apparently, director Nag Ashwin says that he can't imagine any other actor playing the role of legendary NTR other than Junior NTR. And for that reason, he opted for a digital creation of NTR when Junior declined his request to do so. Coming to ANR's role, he got Naga Chaitanya onboard to play the part.
This revelation is actually leading to a discussion of sorts, on what basis, the casting of actors should be. When a girl like Keerthi Suresh, who is not even a Telugu by birth or conviction, is playing the role of Savitri, why can't other actors who look close to NTR and ANR play that part?
Even when Sir Richard Attenborough made 'Gandhi' movie, he didn't look for someone from Mahatma's family to play their relative's role, but he chose a white actor Ben Kingsley to depict the life of greatest ever brown man. When that could happen, definitely we could bring talented actors into the shoes of NTR and ANR.
Tomorrow with Balayya making NTR biopic, Akkineni family giving thought about ANR biopic though they don't have immediate intentions and even Mega family might consider locking Chiranjeevi's cinematic journey into a two-hour drama, definitely, the question of the hour is why only one's own family members should play the part of their ancestors.
