The state's Anti-Terrorist Squad on Friday arrested a dealer of fake Indian currency notes and seized such notes of Rs1.52 lakh from him.
Officials said that Sanjay Devaliya, a resident of Junagadh, was arrested for dealing in fake notes. He was bringing the fake currency notes from West Bengal to be further distributed in Gujarat.
ATS said that the team was headed by women sub-inspectors SK Odedara and NG Gohil. "The fake currency notes are prima facie of high quality, containing security thread, watermark, and other security features. This is the first such recovery of fake notes of new currency notes of such high quality in Gujarat," an official release said, adding that kingpin of the network has been identified. The search and seizure was conducted on the basis of information provided by the National Investigation Agency, Mumbai.
