Shock For The BJP: Washout In Three States?

Is the BJP in for a big shock in the five assembly elections? Yes says two opinion polls conducted recently. The surveys conducted by both ABP-C Voter and C 4 show that the BJP is in for a shock defeat in all the states, which include its citadels of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. In both MP and Chhattisgarh, the BJP has been in power for an uninterrupted 15 years.

However, the ABP survey points out that the difference between the two parties is very minimal and that the BJP can offset this if it manages to handle things deftly. Rajasthan could be the most depressing news for the BJP as the surveys predict that the Congress could win 49.9 percent votes and 142 seats. The BJP would win 34.3 percent and its seat strength could shrink to 56. Congress Party's Sachin Pilot is the clear winner for the CM seat with 36 percent votes, while Ashok Gehlot gets 22 percent. Vasundhara Raje gets 27 percent support.

In MP too, the BJP is in for a defeat. Interestingly, a large number of voters preferred Shivraj Singh as the chief minister. The Congress according to this survey, will win 122 seats, while the BJP will get 108 seats. The BJP will get 41.5 percent votes, while the Congress will get 42.2 percent. The difference is only 0.7 percent.

In Chhattisgarh too, it's going to be a close fight with the BJP getting 38.2  percent votes and the Congress 38.7 percent. Here too, the difference is just 0.5. However, as CM, the clear choice is Raman Singh. So, BJP, be prepared for a big defeat in the semi-final!!
