Hot Topic: Why Top TV Channel aired "Biased" Survey!

The pre-poll survey by CPS in Telangana ahead of its first General Assembly elections in India's 29th state has come under severe criticism by Opposition parties Congress, TDP, BJP, TJS and CPI besides others.

According to this survey, TRS would bag 94 to 104 seats with 49.7 percentage votes in favor of it. The survey predicted that Paja Kutami would be limited to as few as 16 to 21 seats with 32.3 percentage votes. And the survey estimated that BJP would get 1 or 2 Assembly seats with just 9.1 percentage votes and MIM would get 7 seats with 2.4 percentage votes all over.

As per the survey, only 1 independent is likely to win with 6.5 percent votes for all independent candidates overall. The survey said to have conducted in total 119 constituencies. And the sample size is said to be huge i.e 2,86,567 in the entire state. The survey is said to have carried out between 25th November and 29th November i.e after the candidates have been finalized.

However, these predictions are being targeted by Congress and TDP who are outrightly quashing the survey. Senior leaders like Uttam Kumar Reddy, L Ramana, and others said to have vented out their angst on the survey and also on a couple of news channels that aired the survey in prime time and had discussed on it for over 30 minutes.

Now, many Praja Kutami leaders are finding fault with the news channels airing such a "biased" survey and having such a lengthy analysis of it. Opposition leaders are alleging that the said news channels are endorsing the survey results. Exuding the confidence over their victory, opposition leaders quashed such surveys as "baseless".

Meanwhile, a section of leaders are also mulling over to complain to the Election Commission for airing such a pre-poll survey just before the elections against the norms. Whilst Lagadapati's opinion on independents winning chances was challenged by TRS who even lodged the complaint to the EC, now several Praja Kutami leaders are wanting to complain against this pre-poll survey by CPS.
