Kabir Khan on Chennai Super Kings docu-drama 'Roar of the Lion': MS Dhoni breaking silence makes it unique
Kabir Khan's docu-drama ‘Roar of the Lion’ which released on March 20 has got the internet talking. It is based on IPL match-fixing, in which Chennai Super Kings were accused. The captain of the team, also captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni came out in the open and spoke about the rumors of corruption and how he came out of it victoriously.
"During that time, Dhoni was completely silent. Nobody knows how he dealt with the whole situation internally. I think that conversation makes the show different, makes it unique," he mentioned, adding that corruption exists in every field. Kabir said, "I think there is corruption in every profession... a grey area exists in every field, be it cricket, corporate, cinema…it is ultimately dependent on how an individual holds himself or herself."
Kabir Khan also recalled how Chennai Super Kings were mocked and called ‘Chennai Senior Kings', ‘buddhe ki fauj' only because their player was above the age of 30. He mentioned that after they came back on the field, their 2018 IPL victory was the only response the team needed to shut mouths. The story is what inspired him, revealed the director.
