Actor News: Deepika To Play Draupadi In Mahabharat

The upcoming film of Deepika Padukone, Mahabharat, will have a talented actress in the Draupadi role. The film will be showcased from Draupadi's point of view, and Deepika, who is playing the lead and the central character is said to be honored in playing an epic role.

Mahabharat will be produced by Deepika herself along with producer Madhu Mantena and this film marks as the second production for the actress. Deepika's next release, Chhapaak, is her first production, a film based on the life of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal.

Though Mahabharat has been told many times on big screens, this movie will be a fresh one with a story seen through the eyes of Draupadi. Deepika said that the role of Draupadi is a role of her lifetime. "Many of life's lessons derived from Mahabharat are most often from its men. Telling it with this fresh and new perspective will not only be interesting but also very significant," Deepika said.

This much-anticipated film will be a multi-part franchise and the first part will release on Diwali 2021. Producer Madhu Mantena said that without Deepika the team would not be making this film on such an ambitious scale. With Deepika playing epic and mythological roles like Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, this film as Draupadi is leaving her fans thrilled. A much-deserved role for Deepika and we are sure she will bring the character to live on big screens.
