Back in those days, Priyamani was one of the leading heroines down South. Besides Telugu, she has achieved good popularity in other regional languages like Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil as well. After winning the National award for Paruthiveeran in 2007, the Bengaluru born actress has hiked her remuneration. But, the actress who is back with 'The Family Man' web-series has recently dropped an interesting comment about the actresses' remuneration.
Speaking to the media, Priyamani said 'In the past, producers were not bothered to increase the salaries of heroines even though their films did solid business at the box-office. And, heroines weren't given as much importance as actors. But, the trend seems to have changed now. The current day actresses are assessing their value and they are able to get the remuneration as much as they demand. Anushka, Nayanthara, and Samantha are the right examples for that. It is extremely great to know that women in the film industry are now able to speak up for themselves.'
Priyamani, who's judging the Dhee dance show, also opened up on the MeToo movement. Speaking on it, the actress said: "It is an appreciable thing that women are coming forward to share about their sexual harassment experiences in public" She further added that 'Me Too isn't confined to film industry but it exists in every field - at home, universities, IT offices, call centers and everywhere. It's the duty of people to react very sensitively to such issues and I urge them not to trust all the MeToo stories blindly. It is a very powerful movement and everyone is scared to harass a woman now."
