KCR Denies Permission To 'Million March'

We all know how crucial was 2011's 'Million March' protest in Telangana agitation and seven years later, to coincide with its anniversary, Prof Kondaram-led Telangana JAC called for another Million March programme on Tank Bund in Hyderabad. But, this time, KCR-led TRS government denied permission to the Million March and all the leaders of JAC are being restricted and house-arrested.

The Million March call was supported by left parties like CPI, CPI(M), New Democracy Party, Telangana Inti Party and others. On one hand, police officials have denied permission to conduct this March but on other hand, the JAC members are still exuding confidence in conducting the Million March. Speaking to media, Kodandaram said that government is illicitly conducting state-wide arrests of JAC leaders with a view to block them from coming to Hyderabad.

On Friday night, Kodandaram while speaking to media said that the 'government is insulting the martyrs who killed themselves for Telangana state and governance is filled with contracts, commissions, parties and luxuries.' Speaking about the two-faced behavior of Chief Minister, the JAC Chairman said that 'KCR wants Jantar Mantar to protest in Delhi, but he's denying us permission to hold protests at Indira Park in Hyderabad.' He questioned, 'Don't we have the same rights as KCR? They can impend limitations on the rally, but how can they deny permission completely?'

JAC member Chada Venkat Reddy has requested permission to hold the Million March rally between 1PM-4PM on Saturday from Makhdoom Bhavan to Tank Bund. But, the Hyderabad Police have denied permission in view of security concerns and ongoing Intermediate exams.
