Political Party Gave Supari to Kill me: Mamta Benerjee

In a shocking allegation/revelation, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has accused a few political parties of trying to get her killed. She said she has reliable information from the Intelligence Bureau officials that a few are conspiring to kill her. She said the contract killers have already conducted a recce at her residence and the Intelligence reports asked her to shift to a government bungalow immediately.

63-yr-old Mamta still lives in a single-story house which she had occupied from before becoming chief minister. She hasn't moved to government bungalow yet. While one of the borders of her house is a canal, Tolly Nullah, and middle-class houses are located on other sides. Security personnel has been raising their concerns for a long time. However, the fresh report from Intelligence Bureau indicates there is a serious threat to Mamta.

A high-level probe in the matter is said to be going on. Although the IB sleuths and Mamta's TMC leaders are not revealing who is behind the conspiracy, all they say is some political parties are trying to get her killed.  

"Some political parties - I am not naming them - are trying to get me killed. They have given a supari (contract) to kill me... they have even paid the money," Mamta Banerjee said yesterday. She added she is not scared. She said a conspiracy had been hatched to kill her earlier too - before becoming chief minister.

Mamta was earlier attacked by a local CPM youth wing leader Lalu Alam with a stick on her head. She had suffered a skull fracture and was hospitalized for over a month. CPM had expelled Lalu Alam and a trail is going on. Mamta had founded TMC in the 1990s to take on the CPM whose bastion is Kolkata. While she has been fighting with Communists on one hand, of late, she is fighting against Narendra Modi. Right from the Demonetization to GST to ignorance of AP's rightful demands, Mamta has been waging a no-holds-barrier war with Modi government. She is playing the crucial role in forming a Third Front, an alternative political force to counter Modi in 2019 polls. She had played the instrumental role in uniting all Opposition parties together. 

A conspiracy to get her killed is certainly a huge shocker. None other than a chief minister raising issues of the death threat is a sad state of affairs. Meanwhile, Mamta said she has an "emergency plan". She said she prepared her "political will" to decide who will run the party and who will run the government in her absence.
