
India's Hima Das entered into the record books in grand style. She fetched World's 2nd Most Populated Country it first ever tracks gold at a global event by winning the 400-meter final at the World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.
Hima Das started slowly but increased the pace in the final 80m to surpass three opponents and completed the 400 meter final in 51.46 seconds. She achieved this feat within 18 months after running her first competitive race at an inter-district meet in Sivasagar, Assam.
The 18-Year-Old said she is living a dream upon creating history. Who would have expected a Teenager from Assam village to become the first Indian woman world champion in Athletics?
Ranjit Das, Father of Hima Das, has a 0.4-acre farmland. Her Mother Junali is a housewife. The family of six relies on that land for income. Hima Das wishes to do something for her Parents and Country.
Hima Das has been at the receiving end of accolades and appreciation from PM Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan, Jr NTR and many other celebs.
