The makers of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra starrer Badhaai Ho have finally unveiled its hilarious trailer. Wait, a minute! Let us catch our breath coz we've literally been going ROFL ever since we watched the trailer (thrice in a row)!
Ah! Well, where do we begin? Okay, so the trailer of Badhaai Ho begins with Nakul's (Ayushmann) father (Gajraj Rao) breaking the news of his wife (Neena Gupta) being pregnant to his two sons, Nakul being the elder one. While he's still struggling to come to terms with the fact that his mom - mother of two grown-ups, is preggers (due to the active sex life of his parents of course), he spills the news to his love interest played by Sanya Malhotra, who in turn informs her mother about the same.
While Sanya's mom really likes Nakul, she's taken aback by the 'good news' of a little guest who's to arrive soon at his place, courtesy his parents. Not just Sanya's mom, everyone from Nakul's neighbors to his friends, to his grandmother - find it difficult to digest that an elderly couple can indulge in the act of love-making just like the younger ones. The rest of the trailer gives us glimpses of the fun, mad roller- coaster ride that the film is going to be.
Ayushmann Khurrana has once again left us mighty impressed with his unconventional choice. Be it Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan or the upcoming AndhaDhun and now, Badhaai Ho, the actor has always managed to amaze us and how!
Watch the trailer right here:
Sanya Malhotra is like a breath of fresh air. We totally heart her chemistry with Ayushmann in the film. After Dangal and Pataakha, it's quite nice to see her in a comedy film. She's picking her projects with some food for thought. From what we see of her in the trailer, she seems quite effortless and convincing in her part. We like, we like!
Neena Gupta simply aces it with her expressions. It's a delight to watch her in a substantial role on screen after a small part in Veere Di Wedding. The plight of an embarrassed and borderline ashamed woman, who becomes pregnant at the age of becoming a grandmother perhaps, has been conveyed so beautifully. We hear her speaking in barely two scenes in the trailer and boy! Does she hold your attention and how!
Gajraj Rao is picture perfect as Nakul's father. He gets to bear the brunt of everything and everyone and he does so with a cheeky grin. From hearing the taunts of his neighbors to trying to pacify his own mother and sons, it's a treat to watch him nail his part.
Badhaai Ho is all set to hit the theatres on October 19 and we can't wait to witness this crazy ride on the silver screens. To borrow from Sanya's mom's lines in the trailer, "Nakul's family is a circus I'd love to buy tickets to."
