Decoded: Here’s what makes Malaika Arora Khan the quintessential femme fatale

Hot mama-on-the-go — Malaika Arora always knows how to work her petite frame and make the clothes work for her instead of them overpowering her personality. Even if it’s street-style basics like Levi’s, the former model and the go-to item girl always glams it up with a sprinkle of the right accessories that scream luxury and timeless glamour. Designer Arpita Mehta, who has dressed Malla on many occasions and even had her as the showstopper at fashion weeks, hails her as “fashion forward”. “She’s very warm as a person and open to experimenting and understands her body type. Also, she knows what looks good on her and what doesn’t. Hot, sexy, elegant and chic is how I’d describe her. She’s at that stage where she can pull off just about any silhouette. Dressing her has been effortless as her confidence level is high. You could give her a bralette or a gown and she will kill it,” says Arpita.

UP FOR ANYTHING

Malaika had shot an editorial for the Peacock magazine a few weeks ago, and designer Falguni Peacock recalls that shoot went like a breeze. “She’s always on top of her game and she knows what works for her. We gave her a bodysuit for the cover. She is willing to experiment with daring pieces and off-the-wall make-up. Malaika who has been a model has never been scared to try something new. Having said that, I’d like to add that it takes a lot to be in shape and given her dedication to fitness, just about every silhouette works on her — give her a tracksuit or a pantsuit,” says Falguni.

 
           

CEREBRAL SEXY

Confidence, grooming and a positive state of mind have made her age-less and timeless. Designer Aartivijay Gupta thinks of her as the metaphor for agelessness. “Even if Malaika is covered from head-to-toe, she looks fab. She’s sexy in her mind. Give her a khadi kurtaand she’ll make it work. Also, she experiments a lot — be it the thigh-high slit gowns or backless corsets — she’s up for anything,” says Aarti.
