In last few years, there's been an increasing trend that most of the successful South Indian films got remade into Hindi. Some Bollywood filmmakers even acquired the remake rights of movies which released some 10-15 years ago and modernized them to the current day in Hindi.
Much before Kanchana (2011), Lawrence came up with Muni but the film ended up as mediocre. Whereas, the sequel (Muni-2: Kanchana) rocked box-office with huge collections in both Telugu and Tamil. Later, the film was remade in Kannada and it was a blockbuster there also.
Also on another hand, Akshay Kumar who's been away from comedy genres from a while is keen to work on this horror+comedy entertainer. Raghava Lawrence is expected to begin the Hindi film after releasing his ongoing film 'Kanchana-3' on April 18.
