Great: Akshay Kumar gifts a sum of Rs 1 lakh each to 100 brides at a "samuh vivaah"

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was among the first to come forward to declare that he will be donating Rs 5 crore to the families of Pulwama martyrs. A source says that the actor will be handing over the cheque to Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He encouraged people to donate to the families of the soldiers. He even warned against fakes when he took to Twitter to say, “#Pulwama is something we cannot & will not forget. We’re all angry & it’s time to act. So act now, donate to the martyrs of Pulwama on http://www.bharatkeveer.gov.in There’s no better way to pay homage to them & show your support. This is the only official site, pls don’t fall prey to fakes. (sic)”

In the midst of this turmoil, the actor also made time to attend another charity event. A source said, “Akshay and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, were present at a samuh vivaah (mass wedding) of lesser-privileged persons. Around 100 couples tied the knot under the same roof. Akshay is said to have given each bride a gift of Rs 1 lakh. The money was deposited into their individual accounts. It was the actor’s way of ensuring that these newly-married couples have something substantial to begin their lives with.” After Hrs tried reaching the actor, but he was unavailable for comment.
