The Tashkent Files raises questions about former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's mysterious death. Shastri died right after India defeated Pakistan in the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The military conflict took place between April 1965 and September 1965. The conflict began post-Pakistan's Operation Gibraltar whose aim was to cause insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir.

Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, produced by Pranay Chokshi, Haresh Patel, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek, the movie is slated to release on 12th April. Co-incidentally, PM Narendra Modi, the biopic on India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was slated to release on 12th April but has been postponed to 5th April release.
