Latest Movie News: Confirmed! Katrina Kaif is the "Sooryavanshi" girl, pairs up with Akshay Kumar after 9 years

Once superhit Jodi Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, who was last seen in Tees Maar Khan, pair up with Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar for Sooryavanshi

After the epic Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Sanjay Dutt's pairing Kalank, Karan Johar has managed to bring yet another much-loved on-screen Jodi i.e. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, back on screen. The once superhit Jodi last worked in Tees Maar Khan which released in 2010 i.e. nine years back.

It will be after nine whole years that Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, most remembered for their movies like Namaste London, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Welcome, De Dana Dhan and Singh Is King, will come back on screen. This time they reunite for Rohit Shetty's much-awaited movie, Sooryavanshi.

While Rohit Shetty had previously informed that he would announce the leading lady of his cop-franchise movie soon, Karan Johar took to Twitter to confirm all the speculations about Katrina being the leading actress in the film. DNA After Hrs was also the first to confirm that Katrina Kaif has already shot for the poster of Sooryavanshi. Even more so, the actress is set to release her movie on Eid 2020. Interestingly that would mean that Katrina Kaif would clash with Salman Khan-Alia Bhatt starrer Inshallah, which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie would also bring SLB-Salman Khan's pairing back after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Rumors were also doing rounds that Karan Johar was unsure about working in Sooryavanshi. However, the producer, who backed Rohit Shetty's last release from the franchise aka Simmba starring Ranveer Singh, is now producing Sooryavanshi too. Karan was also the producer of Akshay's last release Kesari.
