Sources told news agency ANI that Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik was summoned by Amit Shah and reprimanded.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik said after his meeting with Amit Shah: “I have briefed him about the situation here. Things are now normal in the Hauz Qazi area. 4 people have been arrested.”

A clash had broken out between two groups over parking and a temple was vandalised on June 30.

Meanwhile, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy tweeted that he was happy to ‘learn from party sources’ that Amit Shah would ‘directly deal with the Delhi Police’.

1. Four including a minor arrested

Four persons, including a minor, have been arrested in the case. Security personnel were deployed in the area after tensions heightened.

The Delhi Police has registered three FIRs in this case - two cross FIRs, one lodged by each community, and one for vandalizing the temple.

Apart from temple desecration, stones were also pelted in the area leading to a tense situation.

Public interest litigation (PIL) was moved in Delhi High Court on Wednesday in the wake of the incident.

2. PIL in court

The petitioner, advocate Alakh Alok Shrivastava, sought the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), duly monitored by Court, to thoroughly investigate the matter.

The plea also prayed for initiation of stringent action and formulation of suitable guidelines in order to avoid such attacks on other religious places of worships in future, considering the wider ramifications of such attacks in ensuring communal harmony and peace in the society.

Union Minister for Health and Family welfare and Chandni Chowk lawmaker, Dr Harsh Vardhan had visited the area on Tuesday and appealed for harmony.

"After some altercation & scuffle over a parking issue in Hauz Qazi, tension arose b/w two groups of people from different communities. We have taken legal action & all efforts are being made to pacify feelings &bring about amity. People are requested to help in restoring normalcy," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Delhi had tweeted after the clashes.

3. Dr Harsh Vardhan visits area

Two days after a temple was vandalized in Hauz Khazi in Chawri Bazaar in Chandni Chowk, locals gathered at the temple to perform rituals on Wednesday.

There still a hint of tension in the area and Delhi Police and paramilitary forces are on high alert.

Meanwhile, shops have also started opening in the area. Locals told Zee News added that some of the vandalized idols will also be replaced.

Earlier, Union Minister and Chandni Chowk lawmaker, Dr Harsh Vardhan, on Tuesday morning visited Hauz Qazi area. "It is very unfortunate and painful. The kind of things done to the temple is unforgivable. I have been told that Police is already in action, culprits will be arrested soon and punished. I appeal to the people to maintain harmony," Harsh Vardhan said.

Three people, including a juvenile, have been arrested over the matter.
