The year started with people trolling Ananya Panday over her statement on nepotism during a roundtable interview for newcomers by Rajeev Masand. The actor had said, "I always wanted to be an actor and this has been my dream also. simply because my dad's an actor I'm not getting to say no to a chance to act. My dad has never been during a Dharma film, he never went on Koffee With Karan."

It so happened that, after stating this, Siddhant Chaturvedi, who was a neighborhood of the interview said, "The difference is ‘jahaan humare sapne poore hote hain, wahi inka struggle shuru hota hai." People trolled and teased Ananya Panday, while applauded Siddhant for his 'savage' reply.

During a recent interaction with Mumbai Mirror, when Ananya's dad and actor Chunky Panday was asked about it, he said, "The twice she really got trolled was when she called me Tony Stark and therefore the second was this episode. I would like to inform her to prevent taking my name."
