'Our hearts are breaking': Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma pledge support to 'PM CARES Fund'

Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli on Monday took to Twitter to announce that the couple is pledging their support to the Prime Minister Relief Fund and therefore the Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund, to assist fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Virat wrote on Twitter, "Anushka and that i are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking watching the suffering of numerous & we hope our contribution, in how , helps to ease the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona."

Anushka too announced an equivalent on her official Instagram account.

Both Anushka and Virat have several times within the past continually spread the message of social distancing, asking people to remain indoors and follow the instructions issued by the authorities. Virat is currently awaiting the fate of the Indian Premier League, which was postponed to April 15. he's the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise and has played three IPL finals but is yet to win the title.

Anushka joined an extended list of celebrities who have all come to the fore and contributed to the government’s initiative to supply relief during coronavirus pandemic.

While Akshay Kumar leads the list with a private contribution of Rs 25 crore, actors Varun Dhawan (Rs 30 lakh as a donation to PM-CARES Fund and Rs 25 lakh to Maharashtra CM’s relief fund), Randeep Hooda, T Series head Bhushan Kumar (Rs 11 crores towards PM CARES and Rs 1 crore towards Maharashtra CM’s relief fund), actor Maniesh Paul (Rs 20 lakhs for PM-CARES Fund), among others, announced the sum they need pledged to donate.
