Soon after her name popped up within the drugs case, Sanjjanaa issued a press release. An excerpt from the statement read, “Coming to the drug topic, I even have seen people drinking alcohol, partying in clubs and socializing during birthday celebration functions, etc, but beyond that, once I don't have anything to try to to with it or no such “drugs” experience, it’s very irritating to urge forced in media to speak about something you don’t know. I’m very saddened that our Kannada film industry’s name is dragged into this.”
It was after Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut opened about the industry and drug mafia nexus, that noted Kannada film-maker Indrajit Lankesh alleged that the drug mafia had gained its root in Sandalwood also. he's imagined to have given 15-20 prominent names of Sandalwood stars, musicians, and technicians who are allegedly indulging in drugs and who frequent high-end parties organized within the city.
