Movie update: Anil Kapoor celebrate 20 years of Nayak, recalls being a reel life CM for a day'

Helmed by Shankar Shanmugham, ‘Nayak’ stars Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, late Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever and Pooja Batra among others.

Anil Kapoor is understood because the evergreen actor of Bollywood and is praised for his ‘jhakaas’ dance moves and amazing acting in films like ‘Mr India’, ‘Nayak’ and ‘Welcome’ among others. ‘Nayak’ wasn't a box-office hit but it's still known for the actor’s stellar performance as reel life Chief Minister.

Anil took a stroll down memory lane and recalled shooting for the film, which completed 20 years of its release on Tuesday (September 7). Anil shared an image of a well-liked mud sequence from the film where he was covered in wet brown mud. within the movie, during this scene, Anil fights off the criminals.

While sharing the photo, Anil wrote a nostalgic note, “20 years ago i used to be the Reel life CM for each day and therefore the rest is history! tons of individuals had their views about me doing #Nayak but I knew I had to try to to this film and believed in its message! And now here we are celebrating #20yearsofNayak.”

Fans and other members of the Indian movie industry have heaped praises on Anil on the movie’s 20th anniversary. Actor Ranveer Singh commented, “Cult,” while photographer Atul Kasbekar wrote, "Wow I shot this poster AK...!! Time flies.” Hairstylist Aalim Khan also commented, “LEGEND @anilskapoor.” 

“Masterpiece,” wrote a user while another commented, “One of a Best movie.” a 3rd user wrote, “I still watch everytime its on tv. Dhamaakedaar performance by you. aside from this you performed rather well in Lamhe. My most favorite movie,” while a fourth one wrote, “Your best work. Ever. one among the simplest Bollywood movies ever made.”

Helmed by Shankar Shanmugham, ‘Nayak’ also stars Rani Mukerji, late Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever and Pooja Batra among others. The movie revolves around a television reporter Shivaji Rao (Anil Kapoor ) who questions the corruption of the state during an interview with the state CM Balraj Chauhan (essayed by late Amrish Puri). Unable to handle Shivaji’s questions, CM challenges Shivaji to become the CM for at some point . 

Talking about his upcoming movies, Anil will soon be seen in ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ which stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor in key roles.
