Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's latest release Kabir Singh has managed to cross Rs. 70 crore mark, a huge feat for Shahid Kapoor movie, within 3 days of its release

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh are one of the few films who faced many challenges but surpassed them all. The movie released on non-holiday. Despite that, it managed to make a great opening for Shahid Kapoor and gave him the biggest opening film of his career. This happened despite the movie receiving an A-certificate, and the ticket prices not being hiked (since it released on non-holiday).

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh, which released on Friday, June 21, did not receive a flowery welcome. The movie is being bashed for its mysogyny and glorified male ego. Shahid Kapoor, in fact, is being questioned for taking up such a role. More so, the movie released during World Cup 2019 matches, one of them being India vs Afghanistan. Despite all of this, Kabir Singh has managed to mint Rs. 70 crore and has become the biggest non-holiday opener of 2019, surpassing Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit starrer Total Dhamaal.

Confirming the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, #KabirSingh surpasses *opening weekend* biz of #TotalDhamaal [62.40 cr / 3700 screens], thus emerging the biggest *non-holiday* opener of 2019... A remarkable feat, since #KabirSingh was released on 3123 screens. India biz.

Kabir Singh, which happens to be the official remake of Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey starrer Arjun Reddy, has been directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie released at a time when Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover starrer Bharat's business was slowing down and Chris Hemsworth-Tessa Thompson's Men In Black: International and Taapsee Pannu's Game Over created some magic for a few days. Come June 28 and Ayushmann Khurrana's Article 15 would release in theatres, giving some competition to Kabir Singh. Made on a budget of Rs. 60 crore, it is now only time when Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh is declared a hit unless the movie takes a huge dip over the weekdays.

The music album of Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh is filled with love songs and they are truly soothing to one's years. Today, a new song from the film has been released and it's titled 'Kaise Hua'. In the song video, we can see how Shahid's character Kabir Singh is totally smitten by Preeti played by Kiara. Shahid plays the role of a medical student who is in his final year and he falls for Kiara, who just joined the college in the first year. Being a top student, Shahid wants Kiara also to excel in studies, thus teaching her privately the subjects. Though Kiara's character is intimidated by him, she is fully attracted to him and can't stay away from Shahid. In the song, we can also see that Shahid cannot control his feelings for her and ends up giving her a peck on the cheek.

A scene in the Kabir Singh trailer inspired several memes. In it, Shahid Kapoor’s character, the hot-headed Kabir, chases his maid in the streets after she breaks a glass, presumably not on purpose. In an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, where Shahid and his co-actor Kiara Advani promoted the upcoming film, Shahid was asked if he’s ever lost his cool on domestic help in real life.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Shahid said that his wife, Mira Rajput, brought along several houses helps to their home after their wedding, and were he to break a glass, he would apologize to them and offer to clean up.

The actor has spoken about channeling a dark side of his psyche for the film, in which he plays a self-destructive alcoholic. In the past, Shahid has said that he would take long showers before returning home, to wash away the smell of the 20-odd cigarettes he was smoking on set. Shahid, on Kapil’s show, said that another reason for those long showers was to metaphorically ‘cleanse himself of all the anger and angst’ he was carrying on set.

“I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day. It would take me close to two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children,” he had said in an earlier interview to Mumbai Mirror.

Kabir Singh is the Hindi remake of hit Telugu film Arjun Reddy, which starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. Also directed by Sandeep Vanga, Kabir Singh is slated for release on June 21.

Shahid Kapoor's much-awaited remake of Arjun Reddy, titled Kabir Singh, has been winning praises ever since the teaser of the film was unveiled on April 8. Shahid Kapoor, in his own funky style, unveiled the date of the trailer release for Arjun Reddy. The Padmaavat actor shared a poster where his swag can be seen all over. The poster screams about his anger issues, alcoholism, and love.

Kabir Singh was all about happy times between Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. But now hear that a crew member died while the shooting of the film was on. The crew member, a generator operator, was checking the generators in a five-star hotel in Mussoorie, where the shooting of Kabir Singh is taking place. However, his muffler got stuck in the fan of the generator, which caused his death. Despite being taken to the hospital, he was declared dead.

“Ramu was checking the oil in the generator when the muffler he was wearing got caught in the fan of the generator and he got pulled in it as well. He was taken to Max Hospital in Dehradun where he was declared dead. His family members have been informed about it,” a police officer told Hindustan Times.

When asked, the management at the hotel denied any such incident taking place in their premises. The deceased man was 30 years old and hailed from Muzaffarnagar. He was working with a generator company in Premnagar area of Dehradun.

The producers of the film, Cine1 Studios and T Series Films, have issued a joint statement, “We are deeply saddened by the loss. We are extending our deepest sympathies to the family of Mr Ram Kumar. We are offering support to the family in the immediate aftermath of this tragic event.”

Kabir Singh is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster film Arjun Reddy. The Telugu and Hindi version both are directed by Sandeep Vanga. Arjun Reddy starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles.

Kabir Singh, jointly produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series, is slated to release on 21st June 2019. The story is about a brilliant surgeon who is an alcoholic and suffers from anger-management issues post separation from his lover.
