Highlights of IPL 2018 Final Match


With a stunning batting performance of Shane Watson, who scored 117 runs off 57 balls and not out, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings chased down the 179-run competitive target posted by Sun Risers Hyderabad. It was Shane Watson's show all the way. He was the man of the moment who played an instrumental role in giving a remarkable victory for Chennai team at the Wankhede Stadium. Thus, CSK has won its 3rd IPL Title.  Earlier, SRH Captain Kane Williamson (47) and batsman Yusuf Pathan (45 not out) contributed Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) to post a good target of 179.

1. Shane Watson along with Faf du Plessis had started the CSK run chase. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar had bowled a maiden over giving a great start to SRH.

2. Sandeep Sharma, of SRH, who bowled the second over gave only 5 runs. Faf du Plessis had scored the first boundary (four) in the over.

3. Bhuvi continued his bowling prowess as he finally gave the first run in his 11th ball of the innings. But an overthrow from Deepak Hooda gaved a bonus boundary to the CSK. By the end of 3 overs, CSK was at 10 for the loss of zero wickets.

4. The fourth over has raised the hopes of SRH. Sandeep Sharma had dismissed Faf du Plessis in the last ball of the over thus mounting pressure on the CSK who was at 16 for the loss of 1 wicket after four overs.

5. Suresh Raina had joined Shane Watson. The fifth over bowled by Bhuvneshkumar was also in favor of SRH as he gave away only four singles. After 5 overs, CSK stood at 20 for the loss of 1 wicket.

6. In the 6th over, at 5.3 overs, Shane Watson had hit a six in Sandeep Sharma's bowling. It's a bad over from Sandeep as it contributed 15 runs. Along with a six, Watson had also hit a four in the over. That's the end of Powerplay.

7. The 7th over too got 16 rounds. Watson had hit a six in the second ball and Suresh Raina added to him with two fours off Siddarth Kaul. After 7 overs, CSK stood at 51 for the loss of 1 wicket.

8. Rashid Khan had started on well-note. He just gave 5 runs, including a leg bye in the 8th over.

9. Siddarth Kaul returned to bowl the 9th over of the CSK innings. Another costly over by Sid. Shane Watson had smacked a six and a four in the over. CSK was at 72 for the loss of 1 wicket after 9 overs.

10. In 10th over, it was Suresh Raina's turn this time who put a brake on Rashid Khan's show with a four. At the end of 10 overs, CSK was at 80 for the loss of just 1 wicket and it needed 99 runs from the remaining 10 overs.

11. 11th Over: Shane Watson scored his half-century off 33 balls. He had hit 4 sixes and 3 fours. After 11 overs, CSK stood at Rs 95 for the loss of 1 wicket.

12. In the 12th over, Chennai crossed the 100-mark. While it scored 100 in 11.5 overs, the last ball was a four by Shane Watson in Carlos Brathwaite's first over. CSK then needed 75 runs off 48 balls with 9 wickets in hand.

13. The 13th over was the biggest over that turned the match completely in favor of CSK. A whopping 27 runs were scored in this expensive over by Sandeep Sharma. Shane Watson scored hat-trick sixes and two fours. Shane Watson was at 86 off 45 balls while CSK was at 131/1 and needed only 48 runs off 42 balls.

14. Minor relief to SRH in 14th over as they finally claimed the wicket of Chennai Super Kings. Suresh Raina was out for 32 runs in Carlos Brathwaite's bowling at 13.3 over. Ambati Rayudu had joined Shane Watson. And Shane Watson hadn't slowed down after fall of Raina's wicket. He had hit a four and a six. CSK was at 145 for the loss of two wickets after 14 overs. It needed only 34 runs from 36 balls with 8 wickets in the hand.

15. Good 15th over by Rashid Khan who did a maiden over, although a leg-bye came in it. CSK was at 146/2 after 15 overs.

16. In 16th over, CSK touched 150-mark at 15.3 overs. Amabti Rayudu had smacked a six in Bhuvneshwar Kumar's last over. Overall, Bhuvneshwar ended with figures of zero wickets by giving 17 runs in four overs. After 16 overs, CSK was at 154/2 while it then needed only 25 runs off 24 balls with 8 wickets in hand.

17. 17th over gives the big boost to CSK as Shane Watson had done his century off 51 balls at 16.3 overs. He had hit 8 sixes and 7 fours to reach the milestone. Watson had hit back-to-back fours in the last two balls bowled by Rashid, thus taking the total score to 166/2.

18. 18th over Watson continued his super form. He hit back-to-back fours off Siddarth Kaul. Total 11 runs from this over and CSK was at 177/2. The verdict was almost seized as CSK then needed only 2 from 12 balls.

19. END OF THE GAME: At 18.3, CSK beaten SRH by 8 wickets. While SRH had scored 178/6 in 20 overs, CSK scored 181/2 in 18.3 overs.
