Parmanu box office collection day 1: John Abraham film earns Rs 4.82 cr

Industry insiders blame the average performance of John Abraham’s Parmanu on the team going low on promotions and the ongoing IPL matches.

After opening to mixed reviews on Friday, John Abraham’s Parmanu The Story of Pokhran has made Rs 4.82 crore on Friday at the box office collection. Industry insiders blame the average performance on low promotions and the ongoing IPL matches.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Limited promotions and IPL semi-final hit the biz of #Parmanu on Day 1... Yet, the wonderful word of mouth should help recover lost ground on Sat and Sun... Fri ₹ 4.82 cr [1935 screens]. India biz.”

However, John, who has also produced the film, claimed he was happy with the response. “Nothing could make me happier today than the validation of our efforts to celebrate our unsung heroes by our audience across India! I have been getting so many calls from our distributors and exhibitors and I’m thankful to each one of them for their unstinted support and for standing by and loving this labor of love. I am humbled and grateful to each one of them,” he said in a press statement.

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Parmanu The Story of Pokhran stars Diana Penty and Boman Irani in lead roles, apart from John. Produced by JA Entertainment, Zee Studios, and Kyta Productions, the film hit theatres on May 25.
