Karnataka Elections 2018: With drumbeats and 'Modi, Modi' chant, BJP workers begin colorful celebrations.


As the trends show that BJP has crossed halfway mark of 112 in the Karnataka Assembly elections, saffron party workers have started celebrating outside the party office in Bengaluru. 

Raising slogans and praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP workers celebrated outside the party offices in Bengaluru and Delhi. 

Senior BJP Subramanian Swamy took to Twitter and expressed his happiness over the verdict. He said that it seems his prediction was coming true and that he would hope to see his ‘good friend’ BS Yeddyurappa as Karnataka Chief Minister on May 18. 

"It looks like my early prediction for Karnataka polls of BJP majority is turning out be true,"  Swamy said. "I hope to see my good friend Yeddiruppa as CM on 18 the," he added in another tweet.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh called it a 'historic win' for BJP. says this "is a historic win for BJP." "This I want to thank all the people of Karnataka for voting for us. Ab desh mein Congress khojo abhiyan chalega, kahaan rahegi pata nahi." 

Counting of votes is still underway for Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018. Initially, it turned out to be a neck-and-neck fight between BJP and Congress, but BJP was always found leading from the beginning. 

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah trailing behind JDS(S) candidate GT Devegowda in Chamundeshwari by 18,000 votes and leading by a slender margin of around 200 votes in Badami.

The ruling Congress was ahead in 65 seats, while the JD(S) of former prime minister H D Deve in 40.

Polling was held for 222 of the state's 224 constituencies on May 12 following the countermanding of election for the Jayanagara seat due to the death of BJP candidate B N Vijaykumar, and deferment of voting for R R Nagar seat over allegations of electoral malpractices. Over 72% of the 4.96 crore voters exercised their franchise.
