Brahmaputra Boat Accident: 3 Killed, 30 Missing!

A Boat carrying close to 50 capsized in the Brahmaputra river near Aswaklanta Temple Ghat in Guwahati. The accident happened at 2 pm after the boat collided with a concrete pillar. Three People were killed and over 30 others went missing.

Rescue Teams were finding it difficult to carry out the operation due to the challenging weather. Around 10 people have been rescued by them so far. Support of Army has been sought to save as many victims as possible.

CM Sarbananda Sonowal claimed to be saddened to know about the capsizing of the passenger boat. He ordered an inquiry into the boat accident.

The ill-fated boat was traveling from Fancy Bazaar to Madhyam Khanda. Over-crowding is one of the major reasons behind the mishap. There were 18 two-wheelers on the boat and only 22 passengers had valid tickets.
