Accident in Hyderabad - Woman techie dead, husband injured at Gachibowli

The mishap occurred around 10 am when the two were returning on a scooter after offering prayers at the Balaji Temple in Chilkur.

Hyderabad: A woman software employee died, while her husband, also a software employee, was injured when the bike they were riding on was hit by a rashly driven truck in Gachibowli here on Saturday morning. They were returning from Balaji Temple in Chilkur when the mishap occurred, police said.

The two were identified as Ramya (28) and Praveen (28), both employees of Capgemini. While Ramya was a native of Vishala Lakshmi Nagar, Viskahapatnam, Praveen is from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. They were married in 2016 and have no children.

According to the Gachibowli police, the mishap occurred around 10 am when the two were returning on a scooter after offering prayers at the Balaji Temple in Chilkur.

When they reached near the ICICI Lombard signal at Gachibowli, it is suspected that Praveen, who was driving the scooter, slowed down the vehicle. It was then that the truck, bearing number TS 07 UF 6229, which was allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, rammed the scooter.

 
           

“The truck hit them from behind and the couple fell on the road. While Ramya, who was riding pillion, suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot, Praveen was shifted to a nearby private hospital and is being treated,” police said.

The Gachibowli police booked a case for negligence causing death and injuries against the truck driver and are investigating.
