Rs 500, Rs 2000 Currency Notes Banned

Yes, Higher Denomination Indian Currency Notes have been banned. This didn't happen in India, but Nepal Government took such a tough decision.

The Nepal Government imposed a ban on the use of Indian Currency Notes in denominations of Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 2000. A direction has been passed asking Nepalese People to refrain from storing or carrying Indian Currency Notes higher than Rs 100. Nepal's Information & Communications Minister Gokul Prasad Baskota informed about the decision taken by the government in this regard.

Though Nepal have its own currency, A lot of people use Indian Currency for transactions in various forms. Demonetisation in India had a huge impact on Nepal where Indian currency is extensively used. Ban of Indian Currency in Nepal would adversely affect the Nepalese labourers working in India and Indian Tourists visiting Nepal.
