After 'Inshallah', Sanjay Leela Bhansali to start Sahir Ludhianvi biopic with Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu?

From the past many years, there have been several reports making the rounds about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's desire to make a biopic on legendary lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. From Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan to Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, a lot of names popped up over the years for the lead cast of the film. SLB is planning to make the biopic surrounding the love story between Sahir Ludhianvi and poetess Amrita Pritam.

Now as per reports in Mumbai Mirror, Bhansali is planning to make the biopic with Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. If the reports turn out to be true, it will be the second outing of the due post Manmarziyaan which release last year. Talking about it, a source stated to the tabloid, "Both Abhishek and Taapsee have loved the story and are looking forward to collaborating again. However, they are yet to sign on the dotted line. Once the formalities are locked, they will begin prep."

A few days back, when the ace filmmaker was asked about Sahir Ludhianvi biopic, he had said, "Sahir Saab was one of our most talented poet lyricists, his verses are still inspiring. To bring them back through his love story will be beautiful but also a huge responsibility. It’s a difficult film for the writer-director (Jasmeet Reen) too so I don’t want to be in a hurry but give it the darza it deserves."

The biopic will be both Abhishek and Taapsee's first collaboration with Bhansali.

Meanwhile, SLB will soon start shooting for his directorial Inshallah starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.
