Varun Dhawan reunites with 'Badlapur' team Sriram Raghavan, Dinesh Vijan for the biopic on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal

Sriram Raghavan gave a pathbreaking role to Varun Dhawan with Badlapur and there was no turning back for the actor. With this film, the actor delivered his career's best performance and people were surprised to see him in this raw character with grey shades. After this film, people have been waiting for another interesting collaboration between Varun and Sriram on the big screen. It seems like, after four years, the talented filmmaker has got the right script for VD.

Yes, Varun's forthcoming film is a biopic on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was a part of the Indian army during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. At the age of 21, he fought for our country and sacrificed his life. The film also marks the reunion of the whole Badlapur team including producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films.

Talking about the film, Varun told Mumbai Mirror, "When I heard Arun Khetarpal’s story I was awed that this could have actually happened! I understood then why Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan) and Sriram are so passionate about it. When I met Arun’s brother Mukesh, I was moved. I too have a brother and I can’t understand what he must have gone through,” he says, reiterating that this is a story that needs to be told. “And it’s our responsibility to tell it correctly. This is the most important film in my career and I’m excited to start work with Sriram again. I hope all Indians will feel as proud when they see our story unfold on screen."

While Sriram added, "The courage of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal during the 1971 Battle of Basantar is well known. I was a kid during the ’71 war but I remember pasting black paper on windows during blackouts. When Dinoo approached me to make a film on the subject, I found it daunting initially. But movies set in wartime have always moved me and this made me reconsider my decision. This is a solid story told over two generations of soldiers and we hope we can do justice to it."

Shraddha Kapoor who is gearing up to start shooting for 'Baaghi 3' with Tiger Shroff recently opened up on being replaced by Parineeti Chopra in Saina Nehwal biopic and replacing Katrina Kaif in 'Street Dancer 3D'.
