Current News: India Rejects Trump Offers To Mediate On Kashmir Issue


India raised serious objection over Donald Trump's controversial claim that PM Narendra Modi asked him to mediate between India & Pakistan on the Kashmir dispute when they met during the G20 Summit. The US President even offered to mediate between the two nations to find a solution. He made these comments during the meeting with Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Monday.

Whereas, India remained firm on its a stand that there is no scope for third party mediation in the Kashmir issue. A protest was lodged by India with the US State Department over the statement issued by Trump.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar made it clear India hasn't placed any request for Trump's mediation on the Kashmir conflict.

Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 12 noon due to the uproar over Trump's mediation claim on Kashmir dispute. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu appealed MPs not to make the national issue into a political issue. He wondered if Opposition Members trust US President more than Indian PM.

Currnt News: Green Card Queue Gets Longer


The massive dreams of Indians to settle in the US on a long-term basis is getting more and more tough every passing day. To obtain an EB5 or investor visa to get a green card, now, one has to wait a bit longer than usual and that is, for five years or more. Earlier, we used to get a green card in about two years. However, today's innumerable number of enthusiasts queuing up to fulfill their US dream through this EB5 route is making the waiting period longer.

The US grants a total of 10,000 EB5 visas annually, of which the maximum a country can get is 700. To get the EB5 visa, individuals need to invest at least Rs 3.5 crore, in targeted employment areas in the United States and create 10 full-time jobs.

Moreover, as we know that the US administration is making the strict rules on the H1B visa program, this is also making H1B visa holders apply through the EB5 category to get a green card faster. Vivek Tandon, who is the founder and CEO of EB5 BRICS told that  ''The demand for EB5 visa gained ground around 2017-18 as a lot of H1B visa workers started opting for it to get the green card because of the shorter waiting period''.

A green card is nothing but a permanent resident card and it allows a person to live and work permanently in the United States. Apart from this, other facilities like health, education and necessary benefits from the government will be initiated. Compared to the HIB visa where an individual can work in the US for a maximum for six years at a stretch, the green card will not have any such limitations.

Earlier, the data showed that among 40-50% students who are studying in the US and go on to apply for a green card at the end of their studies, there would be 25% H1B workers; and 25% used to be business people. However, now an increasing number of H1B workers are seeking an investor visa to attain a green card faster.

Viral: Toilet Paper On Trump's Shoe!


Everything about US President Donald Trump is going to be a sensation…that's the reputation US President has. Even the piece of toilet paper stuck to his shoe has drawn the attention of people across the World.

Mr.Trump arrived at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport to board the Air Force One. While climbing the steps, A toilet paper stuck to the left shoe of the US President was clearly visible. And finally, It got dislodged when Trump turned back to wave his hands at his staff and security personnel. Various versions of this moment have gone viral on social media.

North Korea leader Kim Jong Un visits China, ahead of potential summit with Donald Trump


North Korea leader Kim Jong Un has visited China, Bloomberg reported on Monday citing three unnamed sources, in what would be his first known overseas trip since taking power in 2011 and ahead of a potential summit with US President Donald Trump.

Details of his visit including its purpose and itinerary were not yet known, Bloomberg said. Japanese media reported earlier on Monday that a high-ranking Pyongyang official appeared to have arrived by train in Beijing.

Kyodo, citing sources close to the matter, said the visit of the official was intended to improve ties between Beijing and Pyongyang that have been frayed by North Korea's pursuit of nuclear weapons and China's backing of tough sanctions against North Korea at the United Nations Security Council.

The visit could not immediately be confirmed by Reuters.

Footage from Nippon News Network, owned by Nippon TV, showed what an announcer described as a green train carriage with yellow horizontal lines, part of a 21-car train, similar to the kind that Kim's late father, Kim Jong Il, rode when he visited Beijing in 2011.

Beijing has traditionally been the closest ally of secretive and isolated North Korea. But Kim is due to hold summit meetings separately with China's rivals, South Korea and the United States.

"Such a visit would reflect China's effort to get back in the game," said Scott Snyder, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations think tank. "Xi would not tolerate being third in line to meet Kim."

Asked earlier at a daily news briefing about reports of an important North Korean visitor arriving at the Chinese border city of Dandong, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said she was unaware of the situation.

Nobody answered the telephone at the North Korean embassy in Beijing on Monday evening.

"The government is closely communicating with relevant countries and monitoring the situation," South Korea's presidential Blue House said in a statement via a messaging app earlier on Monday.

Asked about the report that Kim was in China, White House spokesman Raj Shah told reporters on Monday: "We can't confirm those reports. We don't know if they're necessarily true."

Kyodo, citing sources, reported that on Sunday, a special train that might have carried the official passed through Dandong. Two sources in northeastern China also told Reuters that a North Korean visitor had crossed into Dandong by train.

The rail journey between Dandong and Beijing covers more than 1,100 km (680 miles). It takes at least 14 hours of ordinary service, according to Chinese railway timetables.

HEAVY SECURITY

On Chinese social media, some residents of Dandong said there had been high security around the train station there and said there were rumors that Kim was passing through.

Police tightened security along Beijing's main east-west thoroughfare, Changan Avenue, mid-afternoon Monday, closing off the entrances to some of the buildings which face the road.

Police also cleared out all tourists from Tiananmen Square around the same time, which normally only happens when important meetings are happening in the Great Hall of the People, where top Chinese leaders often meet visiting heads of state.

There was a large security presence outside the Great Hall on Monday evening. Reuters reporters saw a lengthy motorcade, including a limousine with dark tinted windows, heading down Changan Avenue in the direction of the Diaoyutai State Guest House and away from the Great Hall of the People, flanked by a police escort on motor-bikes.

Also on Monday evening, the Beijing railway bureau warned on its microblog, without giving a reason, of multiple train delays of up to two hours in the Beijing region.

A source with ties to the Chinese military told Reuters that it was "not possible to rule out the possibility" that Kim was visiting Beijing, but cautioned this was not confirmed.

A diplomatic source told Reuters that there was heavy security around the Diaoyutai State Guest House, where some high-level foreign visitors stay during visits to the city. Other diplomatic sources said they were aware of the speculation that Kim was visiting but was not able to immediately confirm it.

Visits to China by Kim Jong Il were only confirmed by both China and North Korea once he had left the country.

Kim Jong Il traveled by private train during his rare visits to China or Russia under tight security. Diplomats and other sources have said Kim Jong Il avoided flying for overseas trips due to security concerns.

The younger Kim, who was educated in Switzerland, is not known to have any fear of flying and state media have shown pictures of him aboard a plane. However, he is not known to have traveled outside the country since assuming power in late 2011 after his father's death.

Donald Trump moves to limit transgenders from military service


President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Friday that bans most transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military, but gives the armed forces some latitude in implementing policies.

The memorandum said that transgender individuals with a history of "gender dysphoria," which was defined as "those who may require substantial medical treatment, including through medical drugs or surgery," are disqualified from military service "except under certain limited circumstances." It added that the secretaries of defence and homeland security "may exercise their authority to implement any appropriate policies concerning military service by transgender individuals."

The White House said on Friday that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis had found that individuals with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria presented a risk to military effectiveness. "This new policy will enable the military to apply well-established mental and physical health standards ... equally to all individuals who want to join and fight for the best military force the world has ever seen," the White House said. Trump announced in July that he would prohibit transgender people from serving in the military, reversing former President Barack Obama's policy of accepting them.

A number of federal judges have issued rulings blocking Trump's ban. The judges said the ban would likely violate the right under the U.S. Constitution to equal protection under the law. On Friday, the Pentagon reaffirmed that it would continue to comply with federal law.

Sonam Kapoor is one of those very few actresses in B-Town who's known for speaking her mind. The actress has never shied away from expressing her opinions on matters, especially about social causes. Recently, Sonam took potshots at US President Donald Trump, calling him 'imbecile' on Twitter. 

Wondering why? Well, it all started with a tweet of popular comedian and TV show host Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen recently took to her Twitter account and shared a picture of an elephant with her baby. The caption of the picture read, "the President has quietly started allowing elephant and other hunting trophies into the US. I’m saying it as loudly as possible: This is appalling. We need to raise our voices and make this stop.” Ellen wrote in her tweet, "Spread the word. #BeKindToElephants"
When Sonam came across Ellen's tweet, she shared it writing, "Hunting is illegal in India, one of the things the world can learn from us! Trump is an imbecile! @potus #proudtobeindian  #preserveourworld"
Well, this isn't the first incident when Sonam has taken a dig at Trump. On another occasion previously, she had dubbed Trump as a "joker" when he had called Meryl Streep an "over-rated actress". Sonam had then tweeted, 'Okay India isn't in such a bad way... this person is a joker... at least our leader has a semblance of intelligence."

On the work front, Sonam will soon be seen in Veere Di Wedding. The film also marks the comeback of Kareena Kapoor Khan to the silver screen post the birth of her son Taimur. The film also stars Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. Apart from that, she will be seen in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanjay Dutt biopic. Sonam has also signed Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production. She will be seen sharing the screen with her father Anil Kapoor in the film.

'Deal with North Korea 'very much in the making', good one for the world, says Donald Trump



US President Donald Trump has said that a breakthrough achieved to de-nuclearise North Korea, claiming a deal with the Kim Jong Un-headed country was underway and it would be a 'very good one' for the world.

"The deal with North Korea is very much in the making and will be, if completed, a very good one for the World. Time and place to be determined, tweeted Trump on Friday.


Earlier, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said the country has made 'zero concessions' for advancing talks and would need 'concrete and verifiable actions' regarding de-nuclearisation in order for the meeting of the two leaders to go ahead.

Thursday night saw the biggest development in the ongoing US-North Korea tension, when the leader of a South Korean delegation, Chung Eui-yong, said Kim Jong Un was "committed to denuclearisation" and "expressed an eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible". 

A meeting between Kim and Trump, who have exchanged bellicose insults in the past year that have raised fear of war, would be a major turnaround after a year in which North Korea has carried out a battery of tests aimed at developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the US mainland. 

Earlier Thursday, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that though 'talks about talks' might be possible with Pyongyang, denuclearization negotiations were likely a long way off.

Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said in response to the announcement in Washington that North Korea must commit to abandoning nuclear development completely in order for meaningful talks to take place with Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Friday he confirmed in telephone talks with US President Donald Trump that the international community needed to continue to put maximum pressure on North Korea.

"We welcome the change in North Korea's stance", Abe said, indicating Pyongyang was ready to start discussions on the premise of denuclearisation.

Harley-Davidson issue: Trump says 'getting nothing' after India reduces tariffs on motorcycles



President Donald Trump today once again raked up the issue of high import duty on Harley-Davidson motorcycles by India, saying the US was "getting nothing" with the New Delhi's recent announcement that it had slashed customs duty on imported motorcycles from high-end brands to 50%.

He added the US wants fair and reciprocal trade deals. "When they (Harley Davidson) send a motorcycle to India, as an example, they have to pay 100% tax -- 100%," Trump said in his remarks to a gathering of governors of all the states at the White House.

Referring to his recent conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the "fantastic man" informed him that India has reduced tariffs on imported motorcycles, but the US was "getting nothing".

"Now, the prime minister, who I think is a fantastic man, called me the other day and said we are lowering it to 50%. I said okay, but so far we're getting nothing. So we get nothing. He gets 50 (percent), and they think we're doing -- like they're doing us a favor. That's not a favor," he said.

"I wasn't sure -- he said it so beautifully. He's a beautiful man. And he said, 'I just want to inform you that we have reduced it to 75, but we have further reduced it to 50'. And I said, huh. What do I say? Am I supposed to be thrilled? And that's not good for you people, especially as governors. It's just not right. And we have many deals like that, Trump said.

He said the US gets "zero" when it buys an Indian motorcycle.

"So when they have a motorbike -- a big number, by the way -- they have a company that does a lot of business. They have a motorcycle or a motorbike that comes into our country -- the number is zero. We get zero. They get 100%, brought down to 75; brought down, now, to 50. Okay," Trump said.

"It's a great company. When I spoke with your chairman or the president of Harley, they weren't even asking for it because they've been ripped off with the trade so long that they were surprised that I brought it up. I'm the one that's pushing it more than they are, but it's unfair. And India sells us a lot of motorbikes," Trump said.

This is for the second time in a month that Trump raised the issue of high import duty on motorcycles by India.

Earlier, he had called it "unfair" and threatened to increase the tariff on import of Indian motorcycles to the US.
