New Report: Rapper Honey Singh in trouble over vulgar lyrics in his new song Makhna

Honey Singh, who is not new to controversy, is in fresh trouble for his new music video Makha, where he has used lyrics such as ‘Main hoon womanizer’.

Popular Punjabi rapper Honey Singh has again courted controversy for lewd lyrics in his new song Makhna. Taking a suo moto cognizance, Punjab State Women Commission chairperson Manisha Gulati said she has written to the Director General of Police to register a criminal case against the singer for using lyrics like “Mein hoon womanizer (I am a womanizer)”.

“A legal action and an inquiry is required to be initiated by the police on the matter as the song readied by T-series chairman Bhushan Kumar and singers Honey Singh and Neha Kakkar uses vulgar words against women,” she said in a communique.

She said the commission has sought status report from the police officials by July 12 in this regard. Demanding a ban on the song, she said it is “indecent and have a degrading influence on society”.

The rapper in 2013 was involved in a controversy over the lyrics of his song “Main hoon balatkari (I am a rapist)”. Even the Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered the Punjab government to file a case against Honey Singh for singing vulgar songs. It had also said singers like Honey Singh should be boycotted, as “his songs make us hang our heads in shame”.

Ex CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani moves Bombay HC against the board after Prasoon Joshi orders 20 cuts in "Rangeela Raja"

Former Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Pahlaj Nihalani has alleged that the sensor body did not give a timely review of his upcoming production 'Rangeela Raja', while multi-starrer 'Thugs Of Hindostan' was given preference by the film body.

Nihalani stated that the present CBFC chairman, Prasoon Joshi, was biased towards TOH as he is friends with Aamir Khan. "My film was reviewed 40 days after applying. I was going to release my film on November 8. Thugs of Hindostan had applied 20 days after me. However, Prasoon Joshi who is good friends with Aamir Khan gave preference to his movie before my film," Nihalani told ANI.

He also claimed that CBFC did not follow the set guidelines for reviewing a film within 21 days of the makers approaching the board. Earlier in the day, Nihalani had moved the Bombay High Court against CBFC's suggestion of approximately 20 cuts in 'Rangeela Raja.' "The cuts suggested for my film were completely illogical and meaningless," explained Nihalani.

"There is no vulgarity, no double meaning dialogues. Still, I've been asked to delete a massive number of dialogues and scenes," Nihalani clarified. With 'Rangeela Raja', Nihalani is reuniting with Bollywood actor Govinda after 25 years. They have earlier worked together in films including 'Ilzaam', 'Shola Aur Shabnam' and 'Aankhen'.

Govinda's film, 'Rangeela Raja' also stars Shakti Kapoor, Digangana Suryavanshi, Mishika Chourasia, and Anupama Agnihotri. It is scheduled to hit the big screens on November 16.

Nihalani had himself faced flak for objecting to the word 'intercourse' in the promo of Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and also for refusing to clear the women-centric film 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' and Anurag Kashyap's 'Udta Punjab'.

Remarks against Valmiki community: Supreme Court to hear Salman Khan's plea

Remarks against Valmiki community: Supreme Court to hear Salman Khan's plea seeking quashing of FIRs tomorrow

Supreme Court to hear Salman Khan's plea
The Supreme Court will on Monday hear the plea of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who has moved the top court over cases filed against him for alleged defamatory remarks against a community.

The apex court in April had stayed criminal proceedings and the inquiry initiated against the actor for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Valmiki community during the promotions of his film 'Tiger Zinda Hai'.

Along with Salman, Shilpa Shetty was also accused of hurting the community's sentiments for using derogatory terms. The alleged derogatory term used for the Valmiki community had irked its members who had then lodged police complaints against the two actors.

The FIRs were registerd in 6 different states including Rajasthan and Delhi. Salman had the moved the Supreme Court with a plea seeking quashing of all the FIRs registered against him in this regard. The actor's lawyer had also requested the court to order all the state governments to ask their police departments not to register any further complaints on the matter.

The supreme court will hear the case on Monday i.e. July 23. A top court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra will decide whether or not to dismiss the complaints filed against the actor in several states.

In the previous hearing, Supreme court had stalled all the cases filed against the actor under the SC/ST act. The court had asked all the plaintiffs to submit their documents.

In the video, that had gone viral last year, Salman and Shilpa were allegedly seen making fun of a certain cast. Members of the Valmiki community had protested against the release of 'Tiger Zinda Hai' across six Indian states, including Rajasthan.

"I recently saw content on social media in which Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty uttered casteist remarks in which they insulted the Valmiki community. My community's sentiments are hurt by their remarks. Kindly initiate action against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under the sections of the Atrocity Act," a memorandum signed by Kirankumar Solanki, national president of Valmiki Swaraj Abhiyan, and Ishwar Solanki, president of the All Gujarat Rushi Samaj Sena, had said.

After Delhi HC order, Bombay HC to hear Vashu Bhagnani’s side in Fanney Khan, Batti Gul Meter Chalu case

On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court restrained producer Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Film Company and Pooja  Entertainment & Films Ltd from interfering with the distribution and release of Fanney Khan and Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which are being co-produced by T-Series.

T-Series had filed the case claiming that Bhagnani was interfering in the release and distribution of the two films by issuing ‘baseless public notices’ asking various theatre owners and film distributors in the country to not enter into any agreements to release them. The producer also served notices to Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, Prernaa Arora’s KriArj Entertainment and ROMP, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s production house last month, clPrernato have acquired the rights of the movies from KriArj last year itself.

Bhushan’s lawyers stated in court that they had sent multiple replies to Bhagnani’s legal team in June itself, asking them to provide copies of the alleged agreements under which he was claiming the rights of Fanney Khan, starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao, and Batti Gul Meter Chalu, starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. However, instead of responding to their requests, his team was sending notices to distributors across India to not execute any deals with T-Series or the films’ producers. T-Series’ lawyers argued that this amounted to unlawful interference and was creating tremendous uncertainty and suspicion over the company’s rights in these films, which was uncalled for and leading to severe losses.

Advocate Neel Mason of Mason & Associates, the law firm that represents Bhushan’s company, said their case is quite simple. “T-Series co-produced Batti Gul Meter Chalu with KriArj and Fanney Khan with KriArj and ROMP under written agreements, all of which were executed much prior in time than Vashu Bhagnani’s alleged agreements. These agreements prohibited KriArj from entering into any agreements with any third party without the written consent of T-Series. Therefore, any agreement that KriArj may have entered into with Vashuji’s companies, are void in law and cannot supersede our client’s rights,” he said, adding, “As regards why, when and where did KriArj execute these so-called agreements with Vashuji or what happened with the money paid to KriArj is for Kriarj to explain. Our Client cannot be made to suffer if KriArj has exceeded its rights and taken money from someone, without our client’s written consent.”

While observing that a lot of such matters were suddenly coming up before it, involving claims made by multiple third-party investors in these films, the Delhi HC directed the matter to be taken up together next week. In the meanwhile, it restrained Pooja Films and Pooja Entertainment & Films Ltd from issuing any notice or making any claims in relation to Fanney Khan and Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

When contacted, Vashu, who is currently in London, said that he hadn’t got any notices about this development. He said he had filed a suit against Anil Kapoor Film and Communication, KriArj Entertainment, Bhushan Kumar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and the case will be heard by Justice Kathawalla in the Bombay High Court on Friday (July 13). I bought all the rights of Prernaa’s films last December (2017). Bhushanji is a friend and I don’t know what agreement he entered in with KriArj. I didn’t know Anil Kapoor is also a producer on Fanney Khan till I saw the trailer. Even Nishant Pitti’s name is there, while I, who have invested in the film, am nowhere in the credits. This is a case similar to that of Parmanu. I have the All-India rights and am hopeful of justice.”
