Latest Mechanic Rocky film overview

latest-mechanic-rocky-film-overview

The younger and dynamic Vishwaksen, who has been constantly exciting Telugu audiences, returns to the large display with Mechanic Rocky.

Actors: Vishwaksen, Meenakshi Chowdhury, Shraddha Srinath, Sunil, Naresh, Harsha Chemudu, Vishwadev Rachakonda and others.

Music: Jakes Bijoy

Cinematography: Manoj Reddy Katasani

Producer: Rajani Talluri

Written-Directed by way of Ravi Teja Mullapudi

The younger and dynamic Vishwaksen, who has been constantly pleasing Telugu audiences, returns to the big display screen with Mechanic Rocky. After impressing fans together with his earlier releases this year, such as Gami and Gangs of Godavari, Vishwaksen now takes on a brand new role on this action-packed movie directed by debutant Ravi Teja Mullapudi. permits explore what makes this film stand out and whether or not it lives as much as the expectancies set by using his previous paintings.

tale: The tale follows Rakesh, better called Rocky (Vishwaksen), who struggles with lecturers but runs automobile storage passed down from his father and grandfather. trouble arises when a ruthless goon, Rankireddy (Sunil), targets the storage's location and attempts to forcefully take manipulate. regardless of Rocky's relentless efforts to defend his family's legacy, Rankireddy might not go into reverse. Amidst this war, Rocky's father passes away, leaving him to honor his father's ultimate wishes by safeguarding the garage. Will Rocky's combat against Rankireddy be successful? The movie takes viewers on a gripping adventure to find out.

analysis: the first half of Mechanic Rocky follows an acquainted, straightforward narrative with little to distinguish it from different films inside the style. Early on, a twist is added, suggesting that the entirety up until that factor has been a lie. This system—first popularized in films like Pokiri—has become a recurring theme in Telugu cinema. Vishwaksen himself explored a comparable premise in his preceding movie Dhamki. whilst Dhamki controlled to face out due to its heightened stakes, Mechanic Rocky falls into the identical ordinary, presenting little novelty.

The film's first half drags, with a story that feels too predictable. The hero's access, the college romance, and the warfare to take over the storage all unfold with little pleasure. The villain's creation provides no actual wonder either, with his attempts to assert the garage following a regular villain-hero struggle. The movie proceeds with no considerable highs, leaving the target market disconnected. Vishwaksen's power, but, attempts to maintain the movie collectively, however even his overall performance can not completely carry the cloth.

But, whilst the tale takes a turn inside the second 1/2, it begins to regain some hobby. The twists in man or woman dynamics are not groundbreaking, but they're enough to make matters extra attractive. The movie takes on a more emotional tone, specifically as the characters evolve from seemingly easy to a good deal greater complicated figures. This shift helps the movie regain momentum, specially in opposition to the backdrop of a cybercrime subplot. but, no matter the potential for a sturdy finish, the climax ultimately falls flat, leaving the earlier missteps unaddressed.

Mechanic Rocky is not a standout film. it's an average experience that relies on its twists and Vishwaksen's performance to keep the target market engaged, particularly within the 2d half of. the 2 heroines play essential roles, impressing each in their beauty and performances, but they cannot completely rescue the film. whilst the movie gives a few twists really worth looking, it is difficult to shake the feeling that it can've been a whole lot greater. it's great to preserve expectations in take a look at for the ones waiting for something exceptional.

Performances: Vishwaksen keeps captivating audiences along with his high-power performances, and Mechanic Rocky is not an exception. Even within the first 1/2, which feels as an alternative traditional, Vishwaksen's dynamic presence manages to keep the target market engaged. His performance stands proud even more in the second half, where the story takes a more potent turn. He seamlessly transitions between innocence and an extra calculating aspect, revealing the drama beneath his individual. The shift in his function showcases his performing intensity.

The 2 heroines also play considerable roles, with Meenakshi Chowdhury impressing all over again after her position in Lucky Bhaskar. She brings warm temperature and credibility to her person, especially in the film's key moments, and her splendor in traditional apparel provides to her allure. Shraddha Srinath's performance is a pleasant wonder—her role brings a sudden layer to the tale, and the information of her person are satisfactory experienced on display. Sunil, as the villain Rankireddy, follows a standard antagonist route, without a whole lot to differentiate his portrayal. Viva Harsha, because the hero's pal, gives a few mild-hearted moments, even as Senior actor Naresh brings his regular intensity to the role of Rocky's father. Harshavardhan and the helping forged supply good enough performances, with out specifically standing out.

Technicians: on the technical front, Mechanic Rocky fares decently. The cinematography through Manoj Reddy is commendable, with visuals that beautify the movie's enchantment. at the same time as the soundtrack gives a few right moments, maximum songs are common. Jake Bejoy's background rating complements the film's pacing, even though it does not elevate it to new heights. A standout music through Mangli adds a pleasing touch to the movie.

Author-director Ravi Teja Mullapudi's execution is a chunk of a combined bag. His reliance on twists to carry the narrative is plain, and whilst the second half of the film benefits from those shifts, the first half feels overly familiar and uninspired. His direction lacks the freshness that one may count on from a brand-new filmmaker, with lots of the movie falling into predictable styles. but, he does manage to save a number of the first half's recurring storytelling by means of injecting some intrigue within the second 1/2, making it a extra engaging enjoy standard.

Verdict: Mechanic Rocky, desires a few repair, however nevertheless Runs On.

rating-2.5/5

Movie Review Telugu Dhamaka Movie Review

'Dhamaka' Film Review

movie-review-telugu-dhamaka-movie-review.

Project: Ravi Teja, Sreeleela, Jayram, Sachin Khedkar, Tanikella Bharani, Rao Ramesh, Chiraag Jaani, Sri Tej, Ali, Praveen, Hyper Aadi, Tulasi, Pavitra Lokesh and others

Music: Bheems Ceciroleo

Cinematography: Karthik Ghattamaneni

Story & Screenplay Discoursed: Prasanna Kumar Bezawada

Maker: TG Viswa Prasad

Course: Trinadhrao Nakkina

Subsequent to conveying a blockbuster with 'Krack' last year, Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja had two mishaps this year as 'Khiladi' and 'Ramarao On the job'. He energetically placed a great deal of faith in 'Dhamaka'. Hattrick author chief combo Trinadhrao Nakkina and Prasanna Kumar Bezawada made this film and the trailer was very amazing too. This raised the assumptions on the film. Allow us to check whether Ravi Teja's film contacted them or not.

Story:

Master (Ravi Teja) is a working class fellow who finds a new line of work after a great deal of battle yet loses it before the wedding of his sister. He closely resembles Vivek (Ravi Teja) who is the beneficiary of thousands of crores. Swamy proposes to Pranavi (Sreeleela) however her dad fixes her union with Vivek. She chooses to go with the two of them and take a ultimate conclusion. The two of them like Pranavi and Vivek's organization gets gone after by JK (Jayaram) who attempts to take it from them. What occurs straightaway and whom does Pranavi pick frames the remainder of the story.

Investigation:

Ravi Teja is interchangeable for mass films. Individuals generally anticipate mass activity performers from him. Be that as it may, an excess of anything can disappoint the crowd. Individuals anticipate that some piece of the film should be special. To that end Ravi Teja takes a stab at something else on occasion however they crash and burn with a vengeance. 'Ramarao Working' is one such film that frustrated the fans vigorously and, surprisingly, the normal crowd needed to see him return to his unique style. However, a mass film doesn't mean making a similar film over and over. There are various movies that are like 'Dhamaka'. The rundown is most certainly unending and 'Dhamaka' offered the same old thing all through its runtime. Each scene helps individuals to remember some other film which causes you to feel that Prasanna Kumar and Trinadhrao cooked an obsolete routine mass film right toward the start. Regardless of Mass Maharaj's courageous endeavors to lift the film, his endeavors went to no end.

It seems to be the author and chief chose to feature Ravi Teja at his lively best when he affirmed their film. They attempted to recreate the Ravi Teja which we found in films like 'Venky', 'Kick', 'Vikramarkudu', 'Wear Seenu' and 'Dubai Seenu'. It seems like they accomplished it toward the starting not many scenes. The introduction battle, beating the folks who prodded the courageous woman and different scenes cause us to accept that they are utilizing Ravi Teja's expected very well. Be that as it may, the issue begins when the story starts. Ravi Teja inquires as to whether he is a comparative with Trivikram in one scene. It seems to be the 'Dhamaka' group got roused from Trivikram's new films for writing this story. They utilized the equivalent 'Organization Takeover' idea which has been pounded into the ground by Trivikram himself. The tension kept up with about the association between the two characters and the curve before the span draws in the watcher. Yet, the story frustrates vigorously from that point.

While there are a few sparkles in the principal a portion of, the last part becomes excessively standard for anybody's loving. We have seen Ravi Teja doing the honest person act before the lowlife and bringing him down toward the end oftentimes previously. They displayed the lowlifes as jokers which gives no test to the legend. The scenes around 'Twofold Game' makes the chart tumble down much further. Indeed, even Ravi Teja's acting becomes normal and common by this point. We can comprehend what is going on when Aadi's Jabarasth punches end up being lighthearted element in the final part. While Ravi Teja and Sreeleela moving for the 'Pulsar Bandi' tune is good to watch, there is no association with the story. It is great not to discuss the peak and the 'obsolete' feeling totally rules the procedures. Aside from a couple of scenes, great melodies, exchanges and Ravi Teja's fiery acting work for 'Dhamaka' and that's it.

Exhibitions:

Ravi Teja was introduced such that his fans needed to see him for quite a while. His mass parody is a treat to watch and his gigantic energy illuminated the screen all through the film. Be that as it may, the ordinary crowd might track down his activity schedule. Sreeleela looked extremely gorgeous in the film and the adolescent will cherish her. Be that as it may, she looked extremely excessively youthful adjacent to Ravi Teja. Her acting is fair. Jayaram worked effectively as the miscreant. Sachin Khedkar did a job that fit him impeccably. Hyper Aadi attempted to engage the crowd with his Jabardasth parody. Rao Ramesh and Aadi's mix scenes worked out lovely well. Sree Tej, Tanikella Bharani, Tulasi, Pravitra Lokesh and others were OK in their separate jobs.

Professionals:

Bheems who was restricted to little films till date got a major proposal with 'Dhamaka' and he utilized it well indeed. His tunes will engage the majority and will match the energy of Ravi Teja. This BGM is likewise generally excellent. Karthik Ghattamaneni's cinematography is astounding and he showed his quality. The creation values are satisfactory as well. The extravagance is very noticeable on the screen. 'Dhamaka' essentially floundered concerning composing. Prasanna Kumar composed a couple of scenes that take care of Ravi Teja's fans and his exchanges were fine as well. In any case, his story is very normal and ended up being a tremendous less. With the story and screenplay ending up a failure, chief Trinadhrao Nakkina could do nothing with his course.

Decision: A Standard Mass Film

Movie Review: Baaghi 3 Review

Movie Review: Baaghi 3 Review

Movie Review: Baaghi 3 Review

Baaghi 3 Review

  2.5/5
3 hrs  | Thriller, Roman | 2020-03-06
CAST
Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Vijay Varma, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat
Director - Ahmed Khan
Producer - Sajid Nadiadwala
Music - Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, Bappi Lahiri, Sachet–Parampara, Julius Packiam, Vishal–Shekhar
Baaghi 3 may be a senseless beast of a movie that solely exists to rupture the screen in images of broken, blasting, blaring men or machines flying mid-air and movie, feels Sukanya Verma.

When Tiger Shroff says he’s never got an honest review in his life, it seems like a career goal he’s determined to take care of and works ardently to travel one better in Baaghi 3.

If Baaghi and Baaghi 2 took astonishing strides in absurdity and embodied Bollywood’s enthusiasm for peddling trash as entertainment, Baaghi 3 hits the lowest of the birdbrained franchise through its course of two and a half hours of reason defying, mind-numbing, soul-destroying free-for-all.

Choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan returns to helm Baaghi 3, a ghastly remake of the Tamil hit, Vettai whose producer Sajid Nadiadwala is additionally credited for its ‘story adaptation.’ That’s never too promising when your previous writing credits include Housefull, Housefull 2 and Kick.

True to its over-the-top trailer, Baaghi 3 may be a senseless beast of a movie that solely exists to rupture the screen in images of broken, blasting, blaring men or machines flying mid-air and movie.

Nothing is what it seems during this farce that neglects the essential details while passing off Serbia as Syria, Jaipur as Agra and Turkish tea as kahwa.

Ahmed Khan could have a minimum of bothered to see what a Syrian cop’s uniform seems like.

Instead, all the homework is completed by Tiger Shroff’s super nimble thighs.

The camera makes bound to highlight their flexibility from every nook and corner.

No doubt he can fly, leap, swoop, somersault, dive from any height, any position, any angle and still his foot will unfailingly land bang into the opponent’s face. Yet ask the person to emote and every one those million rippling muscles vanish into nothingness.

Though he’s named Ronnie within the movie, he could alright be Shazam (or Candyman for that matter) -- all one has got to do yell out his name and his Popeye muscles begin of nowhere and beat the person into pulp.

The guy usually doing all the bellowing is big brother Vikram (Riteish Deshmukh), a scaredy-cat policeman in perennial need of rescue for reasons unexplained. Unless you would like to read between the lines -- Policewala apne liye goonda kyun nahi rakh sakta?

Baaghi 3 is an ode to mollycoddling.

Every single scene is colored in idiocy.

Like Ronnie’s dad whips him with a belt for shielding his brother from bullies only to extract a promise of saving Vikram from bullies on his death bed.

Meanwhile, Ronnie sits home doing nothing waiting to proxy for his spineless bade bhaiya, who has absolutely no qualms hogging all the credit.

Compared to Tiger’s bromance around Hrithik Roshan in War, Baaghi 3’s cosseting brotherhood is a huge close-up.

The effectiveness of Vikram’s scream and Ronnie’s reach is actually tested when the twain land in Syria and directly into the guts of an ISIS-ish terrorist organization.

A great many helicopters collide while Tiger runs amok and wreak havoc into the region until it resembles a cloud of shoddy VFX-aided dust and Diwali.

In its scheme of all-you-can-consume-hogwash, it’s best if you are doing not wonder how a daily slacker became so adept at using bombs and machine guns, a la Rambo -- as long as even the latter had some experience as a war veteran?

Or how Shraddha Kapoor miraculously acquires a tan as soon she steps foot in Syria?

Or her pran jaaye par fashion na jaaye commitment?

Or why every second character speaks with some strange speech issue?

The head of the Syrian militant terror organization boasts about his 44 languages knowhow while Shraddha Kapoor’s character blathers ‘maa ke looteron, baap ki beep’ in her annoyingly innuendo heavy dialogues.

It’s the type of excruciatingly bad performance that deserves an on-the-spot Razzie.

Riteish Deshmukh comes an in-depth second for his inability in making the sissy cop even the slightest bit interesting.

More unsettling is to observe good actors reduced to crazy stock characters like Vijay Varma playing a Pakistani thug, who speaks during a Hyderabadi accent and Jaideep Ahlawat because the proverbial goonda developing a golden heart within the middle of a landmine.

Jackie Shroff’s daddy and Disha Patani’s dancer are tossed certain cheap thrills during a manner one can only expect from a movie whose idea of humour is Gumrah karke Bumrah ki tarah ball phenk raha hai.

What i actually laughed loud at is gun-toting Syrian police running around like puppets and taking orders from Tiger and Shraddha while they single-handedly take down global terrorism.

Leave your brain's reception did someone say? I did!

But Tiger travels to Syria and beyond sense to clobber everything in view.

'Tanhaji has such a lot fun recreating a bygone legend and fictionalizing history, authenticity, and spellings, it gets infectious,' feels Sukanya Verma.

Close on the heels of Panipat comes yet one more tale steeped in Maratha pride.

I am now a touch wary of any film (or should I say film) that peddles itself as a conflict between saffron and green flags. there is a batch of Bhagwan fervor and jingoism in Director Om Raut's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior also, but a penchant for Islamophobia is essentially spared.

A tribute to Maharashtra's martyr, Tanhaji has such a lot of fun recreating a bygone legend and fictionalizing history, authenticity, and spellings, it gets infectious.

Considered Shivaji Maharaj's chief assistant and friend, Tanahji Malasure occupied a useful position because of the leader of his army.

Tape storage: reliable data protection and long-term retention. Discover more!

Why Ajay Devgn didn't make a movie on Shivaji
Meet the important Tanhaji Malusare, war hero

Following the treaty of Purandar, Shivaji (Sharad Kelkar) has lost several forts to the Mughal empire.

His mother Jijabai (Padmavati Rao) is displeased about this development and vows to steer barefeet until Kondana or what we all know as Sinhgad today is back in Maratha charge.

And so Tanhaji (Ajay Devgn) takes leave of wife Savitri (Kajol looking such a lot like Priya Tendulkar) and puts their son's child marriage on the rear burner to duel with Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's (Luke Kenny) trusted trooper, Udaybhan Singh Rathod (Saif Ali Khan) and reclaim the fort of Kondana.

Their dynamic tussle and not some tedious show of patriotism is what engages from start to end.

As does its impressive visual scale in 3D and kinetically choreographed combat sequences strengthened by adrenalin pumping background score that keeps the ardor at its optimum.

More fantasy than historical, Raut creates a cross between magazine aesthetics and mythmaking that's closer to Amar Chitra Katha than any historian's records.

Amar Chitra Katha, because it so happens, is one among Tanhaji's publishing partners, a special remake now has Ajay Devgn and its odd new spelling splashed on the magazine cover.

Bravado like numerology is true up the actor-producer's alley. Devgn's face lights up in excitement as he dives into the 17th-century hero's daredevil missions armed with blades, face covered till eyes, sneaking in and swooping down across narrow ravines, flying and furious sort of a badass Bollywood-themed ninja whose mere nudge is enough to throw a rider off his horse.

Up future is a good formidable villain, Udaybhan.

Saif Ali Khan oozes Gabbar Singh's greasy, gleeful aura and destructive instincts resembling Donald Trump's 'cocked and loaded' eagerness to strike the enemy.

Khan's visible relish in going all-out wicked is infectious despite a needless backstory to elucidate his cruelty. i used to be more fascinated by how vibrantly he had embraced the Mughal culture.

Unleashing creepy smiles, vile wit and smooth barbarism on his abducted, detained or unsuspecting victims or maybe the way he fights, holding his sword the wrong way up , the actor is wonderfully mercurial in his meanness.

It is his caliber that rescues a scene shamelessly designed for reasonable laughs wherein a minion's name may be a deliberate slur to slide in and innuendo.

If Udaybhan has cannons and elephants, another knows tricks of guerrilla warfare.

Weapons and can to trounce the opposite is what they share in common.

While the Hindu morality is signified in poojas, yagyas, saffron, and rangolis, the enemy camp is crammed with sights of roasted crocodiles and spa-like services offering massage and milk baths.

Raut gets it right as long as they're sparring, but his politics doesn't have any complexity or texture. The Rajputs are cunning and cruel. The Marathas are patriotic and valiant. The Mughals are arrogant and entitled.

Dialogue writer Prakash Kapadia (a regular in Sanjay Leela Bhansali period pieces) even throws during a line thereto effect: 'Hum Mughal toh hain hi mauka parast.' If only it had been expressed with sarcasm.

Almost as a security measure, there's a scene involving an honest Muslim and a nasty Muslim. When the bad one tries to harm the great one, the great Hindu steps in and saves the day and temple bells start ringing out of nowhere. How's that for divine intervention?

Amused or not, Luke Kenny is sort of an idiosyncratic choice for Aurangzeb. He plays it just like the hookah-smoking caterpillar of Alice In Wonderland.

Only replace the hookah with a crochet hook.

Others appearing only briefly like Sharad Kelkar, perfectly render Shivaji's stature, power and sympathy, Neha Sharma isn't just named Kamal but seems like one too whereas Kajol's real-life marriage to Devgn gives Tanhaji a readymade emotional connect.

A 300-like artistic palette, a waterfall that leads into a secret cave-like Phantom's and threatening landscapes evoking Lord of the Rings, Tanhaji's technical slickness and rich production values take more inspiration from popular culture than historical accuracy.

A couple of unnecessary, boisterous songs distract Tanhaji from its action-packed course.

Once its back to business, it's all guns blazing.

Give me the edginess and smarts of its bloody and urgent ambushes over Bhagwa boy's patriotic pageantry any day.

Darbar Movie Review

Darbar Movie Review

Darbar Movie Review                                            RATING: 3/5

|  2020-01-09
CAST: Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Yogi Babu, Prateik Babbar, and Suniel Shetty
Director -A.R. Murugadoss
Producer - Subaskaran Allirajah
Song -
Anirudh Ravichander

Darbar review

There is action, drama, emotion, comedy -- everything in equal measure and much of trendy sequences featuring Rajinikanth.

Clearly, Darbar may be a visual treat for fans, says Divya Nair.

I am sorry Rajini Sir, I watched your movie during a multiplex and not in an old-fashioned single screen theatre. I'm apologetic because the experience can never be an equivalent.

As a real fan, I found it boring to enter the multiplex, show my ticket, sit back and watch the film with no interruptions or whistling.

I really missed the ceremonial paal abhishegam, celebratory dance and drum beat before entering the theatre. (Click here to ascertain what we mean)

The INOX theatre in Kalyan, where I watched the film, had a disappointing crowd of 20 to 30 people -- these were mostly office-goers who had requested a half day from work and a few who had brought along their enthusiastic mothers. quite 80 percent of the theatre was empty, which can not are the case in Aurora, Mumbai.

'I haven't entertained negativity in my life'

'I was lucky to satisfy Karan Johar; most of the people don't'

In Darbar (meaning court), Rajinikanth plays Adithya Arunasalam, one father and a 'mad cop' (technically, the Mumbai police commissioner) with three rules:

1. He won't leave employment assigned to him midway until he decides it's complete.

2. He won't spare anyone who will are available the way of his duty.

3. He won't shave his beard until he completes his assignment.

The last one could also be insignificant because Thalaivar features a beard almost throughout the movie.

When Adithya nabs his first big criminal Ajay Malhotra (Prateik Babar), a pusher who also sends innocent girls into flesh trade -- you would like to rejoice with Adithya and co. But soon, you'll realize that the cops have only scratched the surface, and Ajay Malhotra isn't the important villain.

There are several plot twists and a poorly sketched out backstory to tease and thrill you.

The first half, punctuated with gravity-defying action sequences and punchy dialogues rendered by the hero cop, will certainly entertain you.

Rajini establishes that he is not your regular lovable cop who does all the items audience love.

Unlike most of his films where violence and action were restricted to blood-stained clothes, the sound of bullets, weapons and cracked bones, Darbar makes an exception and shows you amputated body parts.

He will break rules or rewrite them and stop at nothing if someone messes together with his family, comprising of his daughter, and therefore the police fraternity.

Thalaivar even references the late M G Ramachandran, when he says: 'In a number of his films, MGR would take the primary three hits from the enemy -- to not increase the joys, because the audience would really like to imagine -- but to measure the enemy's strength, understand who their allies are and retaliate with the right strategy.'

Suniel Shetty, because the villain, is not any match for Rajini's grandeur and charisma, but he tries his best to stay up with menacing gimmicks.

Director A R Murugadoss deserves applause for mostly sticking to the plot. He could have cut the movie by 20-30 minutes if he had done away with unnecessary song and dance sequences.

For example, what was the purpose of getting Thalaivar sing and dance to a lame song with a bunch of background dancers when he was actually called to locate a girl's missing gold chain?

There are some positives also.

After an extended time, we get to ascertain some comic relief within the sort of Rajini wooing Nayanthara, with help from Yogi Babu. an honest looking lady has always been Thalaivar's weakness altogether his films -- it brings out his shy, childlike demeanor, portraying him as a romantic hero.

Sadly, the music by Anirudh Ravichander fails to evoke any magic. Unlike Kaala, where the lyrics had such a lot to precise, Darbar's songs and lyrics are easily forgettable.

Overall, the manufacturers have tried to include everything that creates a masala entertainer in Darbar, and are largely successful. there's action, drama, emotion, comedy -- everything in equal measure and much of trendy sequences featuring Rajinikanth. Clearly, Darbar may be a visual treat for fans.

You will walk out of the theatre wondering how this 69-year-old looks so young and charismatic and carry a movie like this on his shoulders.

Rajini has a solution for that within the film: 'Namburavangalikku vayasu verum oru number (to those that truly believe, age is simply a number).'

Whether or not Darbar becomes successful, Rajinikanth proves there's no entertainer like him.

Movie Review Mission Mangal: Bollywood at its creative best

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya, Sanjay Kapoor, Dalip Tahil, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Purab Kohli, Mohan Kapoor, Rohan Joshi, Kashmira Paradeshi

Director: Jagan Shakti

Rating: 1/2

Mission Mangal is a story about a team of dedicated space scientists who believed in their dream to launch a satellite to Mars in their very first attempt. The effort was all the more commendable since it was executed with a shoestring budget of Rs 465 crore and provided with team leads of junior scientists since the jealous colleagues wanted the project to fail.

The story commences on December 25, 2010, when the Project Director in Rakesh Dhawan (Akshay Kumar) fails in their attempt to launch GSLV-F06 (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) due to the poor judgment of Tara Shinde (Vidya Balan) who's the Project Manager. On top of it, Rakesh takes the blame and is hence posted out to Mars Mission program of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) scheduled for 2022. He is provided with a dingy workplace as it's more of a punishment posting. Tara, an innovative, creative and passionate space scientist is part of the new team. And now the Mars Mission cannot take off as PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle), the available technology has a payload of only 1500 kgs and enough fuel to fire the rocket cannot be carried to a distance of almost 5.5 crores km; and if GSLV has succeeded, it could have 2300 kgs payload - enough to take the satellite to Mars.

From workplace to home, Tara is married to Sunil Shinde (Sanjay Kapoor), an ever complaining hubby who's unhappy with his wife spending long working hours and not tending to the family which comprises his aspiring music composer son in Dilip Shinde (Rohan Joshi ) and partying daughter, Anya Shinde (Kashmira Pardeshi). Sunil is staying at home type and as a result, is constantly interfering in the lives of his kids. Since Tara is the only earning member of the family, the house is running of frugal budget. However, this turns as a blessing in disguise for Mars Mission as while the maid is frying Pooris complains that the LPG cylinder is gonna give up any moment. To save on whatever little gas is left, Tara suggests her to heat the oil and switch it off as the heat generated shall be enough to fry the Pooris. And the stove can be fired up again if the oil cools down. And from here germinates the idea to have an innovative, low-cost solution for the Mars mission.

The idea is latched up by Director - ISRO (Vikram Gokhale) in spite of opposition by Rupert Desai (Dalip Tahil) who plays the NASA-return scientist with a half-American half-Indian accent. However, the planned budget of Rs 800 crore is further reduced to 50% as Chandrayaan 2 Mission gobbles up most of the allocated funds and only whatever is left is allocated since the Ministry refuses to increase the annual budget. Rupert further compounds the problems for Rakesh as only junior scientists are allocated to the project. Since the majority of the team leads are women, the project gets its name - Moms Over Mars.

So we have in place 5 head-strong females each specializing in their area of expertise. Apart from Tara, there is Communication Expert, Eka Gandhi (Sonakshi Sinha) who is shown to be a kick-ass single who was brought up in an orphanage. Kritika Agarwal (Taapsee Pannu) - the Propulsion Engineer is shown married to an army officer, Rishi Agarwal (Zeeshan Ayub). Then there is Neha Siddiqui (Kirti Kulhari), who's struggling to find a decent accommodation since she is a Muslim and a divorcee. The women team is completed by Varsha Pillai (Nithya Menen), a horizontally-challenged innovative scientist and is a payload expert. She lives in a one BHK apartment with her husband Vivek Pillai ( Purab Kohli) and ever complaining mother-in-law who wants her to bear a child.

Then there are two very interesting characters, Parmeshwar Joshi (Sharma Joshi) and Ananth Iyengar (HG Dattatreya), a 59-year-old scientist on the verge of retirement. Parmeshwar is always seen running to astrologers as he is struggling to get married and is continuously irritating Eka with his overtures.

Apart from the lead team of Rakesh and Tara, all the team members are just biding their time and are not excited about the project. Tara motivates the young crew by evoking patriotism and pulls out a coup. The mission faces challenges and the team members come out with creative 'jugaads' including plastic reinforced with concrete by the structural engineer, Ananth; and switching the power off and on - like the one we all do with MS Windows to fix the communication failure.

Finally, the PSLV was launched on November 05, 2013 after some dramatic events. Later named Mangalyaan (Mars-craft from Sanskrit), the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spent about a month in Earth orbit, where it made a series of seven apogee-raising orbital maneuvers before trans-Mars injection on 30 November 2013. After a 298-day transit to Mars, it was inserted into Mars orbit on 24 September 2014. It was a moment of great joy for 17000 ISRO scientists and the core team to pull off an impossible mission. It's all the more commendable since this was India's first interplanetary mission and it made ISRO the fourth space agency to reach Mars, after Roscosmos, NASA, and the European Space Agency. It made India the first Asian nation to reach Martian orbit and the first nation in the world to do so in its maiden attempt.

The writer, Jagan Shakti who also makes his debut as a director in the movie has pulled off a great miracle with this movie. The blessings and inputs of R. Balki as Creative Director has done wonders with the film. The movie has just two songs, `Shabashiyaan` and `O Mangalam Mission Mangalam` and both of them are quite melodious. O Mangalam Mission Mangalam is indeed a very peppy number. The screenplay and editing are exceptional and it's difficult to find flaws with it. The casting has been superb and every actor has performed brilliantly though Akshay, Vidya and Taapsee stand out. With this performance, Akshay must be on cloud nine as he is certainly Bollywood's contemporary answer to Manoj Kumar of Bharat fame. He has played his character with elan and great panache. He is totally in a different league.

The subject though pretty technical and scientific in nature, the writers have done a stupendous job for the audience to understand without much ado. Even though it's a patriotic film, the creative liberties are taken by the movie makers do not in any way dent the smooth screenplay. The human and emotional angle of the lead stars makes the movie a complete package. However, the icing of the cake is certainly the humor, sarcasm, and repartee. The comic timing of the dialogues aided with the use of fine kinesics, this movie is a family entertainer.

This movie is a perfect tribute to ISRO since it came into being exactly 50 years ago on 15th August 1969. It reminds us of Herculean efforts of Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Chander Dhawan, APJ Abdul Kalam, and UG Rao to make India one of the great superpowers of space.

This movie deserves 5 stars but for the end credits which are certainly politicized to favor a particular political establishment. So snatching half a star is just apt to make it a movie of 4 and a half star rating. Go watch this great movie. especially with the kids.

Movie Review: iSmart Shankar

iSmart Shankar Movie Review                                            RATING: 2.75/6

|  2019-07-17
CAST: Ram Pothineni, Niddhi Agerwal, Nabha Natesh, Satyadev, Shayaji Shinde, Puneet Issar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Madhu, Get-Up Seenu and Others.
Director - Puri Jagannath
Producer - Puri Jagannath
Banner - Raghavendra Productions
Music -
Mani Sharma
Puri Jagannath has done wonders at the Box Office whenever the characterization of the protagonist hits the right chord with the movie buffs. Characterization of 'iSmart Shankar' looks as interesting as that of heroes in Badri, Idiot, and Pokiri. Can the Crazy Filmmaker regain his lost glory with this Ram-starrer?

Synopsis:

Shankar (Ram Pothineni) is an orphan in Hyderabad's Old City. He does settlements with the support of Kaka (Madhu) and ends up committing a murder believing it's a deal which could settle his life. Shankar not only gets trapped because of it but also loses his Lover. He escapes from the prison to take revenge on those who are behind the irreparable loss. Has he succeeded in his mission?

Performances:

This is undoubtedly the best Mass Character in the career of Ram Pothineni. Puri Jagannath used to the energy levels of this Young Hero to the fullest. The makeover of Ram is the USP of 'iSmart Shankar'. He breathed life into the character and carried the movie on his shoulders throughout. Energetic Star is exceptional be it screen presence, dialogue delivery, and dances. Watching him perform is like a feast once if you could connect with the character.

Nidhi Agarwal and Nabha Natesh competed with each other when it comes to glamour dose. Nabha Natesh irritates as a Warangal Lady. Dialogues uttered by her in the Telangana Slang looks artificial. Niddhi Agerwal received a better role than that of Nabha and she does well.

Satyadev hasn't got much scope to leave a mark of his own. Shayaji Shinde is too routine. Ashish Vidyarthi is just okay. Nothing much to say about the Actor who appeared as Main Antagonist.

Pros:

  • Ram
  • Music
  • Glam Dose Of Heroines

Cons:
  • Second Half
  • Direction

Technicalities:

Three Songs (Title Song, Dimaak Kharab, Bonalu) composed by Manisharma will thrill the Masses. However, Romantic Songs featuring Heroines are nothing special. Mani shows his mark with Background Score. Re-Recording provided by him in heroism-elevation scenes is marvelous. Camera Work by Raaj Thota is fine. Puri Connects maintained good Production Values. Puri Jagannath attempted an unusual concept but he messed up big time when it comes to the screenplay. Some of the Dialogues penned by him will be remembered for a long time but he needs to rethink on showing lust in the name of love and using too many double meaning one-liners. Puri should have done the script work in a much better manner.

Analysis:

A Chip containing memories of other person gets inserted into the head of the Protagonist and that is why he acts in an unusual manner. While he behaves like himself at one point, Transforms like a completely new person in a flash. Watching 'iSmart Shankar' gives a feeling whether if a chip was inserted in Puri's head in a similar manner? Why because, You could see Puri-mark Taking, Hero Elevation and Eccentric Moments in bits & parts. Just when the viewers start believing that Puri is back, He makes them realize that nothing much has changed from what they had seen in him in recent years.

Attempting a scientific thriller, Puri Jagannath incorporated ample commercial and heroism elevating elements but failed to present the concept in a convincing manner. Ram behaves like two different persons because of the chip inserted in his head. An out & out Mass Guy speaking Posh English and Presenting himself as a CBI Officer looks unconvincing. The manner in which Puri handled such scenes shows a significant drop in his standards.

Of course, The Chip Idea is something that's really interesting. Had if Puri didn't defy logic, 'iSmart Shankar' could have been at a different level. Lack of logic in the scenes makes them look very silly. Even the episode revolving around Murder Mystery wasn't dealt with properly. It's high time Puri learns something from Thriller such as 'Goodachari' and 'Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya'.

First Half is entertaining with iSmart Shankar Characterization, Ram's One Man Show and Puri-Mark Dialogues. Even the picturization of songs full of energy was good. Puri fumbled when it comes to narrating the story in the Second Half. Youth and Masses might appreciate the romantic track filled with glam dose and double meaning dialogues but they don't connect when a hero is in pain as there was only lust no love. The climax of the movie aimed at offering an emotional high to the masses is a tad too routine.

Final Line: A Feast For Masses ..!

Movie Khamoshi Review: No thrills, no scares!

Khamoshi is very predictable, warns Namrata Thakker.

Filmmaker Chakri Toleti’s Khamoshi is a painfully dull remake of a good Hollywood thriller called Hush.

I love the thriller genre and was surprisingly impressed with the trailer of Khamoshi.

Since I had watched the original, I was keen on watching the Hindi version to see if the makers had done justice to it.

But I was so disappointed.

Starring Tamannaah and Prabhu Deva, Khamoshi is about a deaf and mute girl, Surbhi (Tamannaah), who inherits a lot of wealth and a mansion after her adoptive mother passes away. She decides to donate part of it to an orphanage since she was an orphan herself.

A few people -- like Mr and Mrs Desai (Sanjay Suri and Bhumika Chawla) -- aren’t happy with her decision and eye her wealth.

The story really takes off when Dev (Prabhu Deva) comes into the picture.

He is schizophrenic and believes that Surbhi’s mansion rightfully belongs to him.

Surbhi and Dev are somehow related and the back story is very Bollywoodish.

Anyway, Dev arrives at the mansion and goes on a killing spree. Does he manage to kill Surbhi?

The movie is very predictable, so no surprises there.

Khamoshi simply fails to pack a punch as it has no thrills or scares.

If Chakri Toleti had simply copied Hush as it is, Khamoshi would have been better and not like the typical Bollywood thriller that it has turned out to be.

Both Tamannaah and Prabhu Deva are mediocre in the film.

Sanjay Suri and Bhumika Chawla hardly have any scenes and the rest of the supporting cast do not make an impact.

Want some thrills this weekend? Dig out a copy of Hush.

Movie Review: Maharshi

Movie Review: Maharshi

   2.5/5
2019-05-09
CAST:
Mahesh Babu, Pooja Hegde, Allari Naresh, Jagapathi Babu, Rajeev Kanakala, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Vennela Kishore and Others.
Director - Vamshi Paidipally - Hari - Salmon
Producer -
Dil Raju - Ashwini Dutt - PVP
Music -
Devi Sri Prasad
Vamshi Paidipally worked with all the Top Stars of Telugu Cinema (Prabhas, NTR, Charan, Bunny) except Mahesh Babu until recently. With 'Maharshi', He not only completes a full circle but also got the opportunity to direct the landmark film of the Superstar. Posters, Promos, Songs & Pre-Release Promotions generated good buzz around the biggie. Will 'Maharshi' become a memorable film in the career of Mahesh Babu at the Box Office?

Synopsis:

Rishi (Mahesh Babu) who belongs to a middle-class family doesn't want to be like his Father who had seen many failures and faced several insults. He becomes the CEO of a biggest Corporate Company in the World with his hard work and determination to reach greater heights. At one point, Rishi realizes success doesn't mean money or stature and there is a sacrifice of his Friends (Allari Naresh, Pooja Hegde) behind his growth. What has he done for his close buddy? What is the true meaning of success? How did he emerge as a Maharshi? Do watch Maharshi in theatres nearby to find out answers..!

Performances:

Mahesh Babu has done a role with three shades. He, however, managed to show significant variations only in the role of a college student. That doesn't mean his performance in the other two shades wasn't good enough but the freshness is missing. Be it his looks or histrionics in certain scenes, They remind us of films such as 'Srimanthudu' & 'Bharat Ane Nenu', and offers a monotonous feeling.

Allari Naresh leaves a lasting impact on the role of Ravi. Just alike 'Gaali Seenu' in 'Gamyam', Ravi in Maharshi will be remembered for a very long time. However, Allari Naresh gets sidelined after a point and he wasn't given proper ending.

Initially, Pooja Hegde's role gives the impression that it could be different from regular Heroine character. As the film progress, Viewers get disconnected with her character due to the inconsistency in the character graph.

Jagapathi Babu appears a tad too routine as Antagonist. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha have done complete justice to their roles. Rao Ramesh, Sai Kumar, and Rajeev Kanakala were alright.

Pros:

  • Mahesh Babu
  • Allari Naresh's Performance
  • Press Meet Sequence
  • Idhe Katha Idhe Katha Song

Cons:

  • Slow Narration
  • Long Run Time

Technicalities:

Undoubtedly, 'Idhe Katha Idhe Katha' is the best song in the album of 'Maharshi'. 'Padara Padara' is another track which gets positive feedback. None of the remaining Songs left a strong impact. Background Score isn't bad but at times viewers get reminded of other films. Cinematography by KV Mohanan is marvelous. Production Values are grand and richness is evident in every frame. Although the subject of 'Maharshi' lacked freshness, It has got the soul but Vamshi Paidipally hasn't succeeded fully in presenting it on the screen. Preachy Narration makes the viewers feel restless after sometime. We get the feeling of attending a personality development class while listening to the dialogues. You realize Vamshi Paidipally's command on the craft while looking at each sequence separately but on a whole, he failed to narrate the subject in a heart-touching manner.

Analysis:

'Maharshi' is the 25th Movie of Mahesh Babu. It's the story of Rishi who was born in a middle-class family becoming the CEO of a corporate company and reaches a village in AP to fight on farmers issues in support of his Friend. The role of Hero was designed as a role model to match up to the landmark film status. There are entertainment, sentiment and fan moments in 'Maharshi'. Getting too much preachy, long duration, story/screenplay/scenes resembling other films worked against this flick.

Promos of 'Maharshi' gave a feeling that they were inspired by other films including those starring Mahesh Babu. You get the same impression while watching the movie as well. '3 Idiots' Inspiration can be noticed during the college-backdrop scenes. Speech in the presence of media on Farmers issues reminds us of 'Khaidi No.150'. Be it Mahesh's looks or expressions & DSP's songs or background score, You could spot the similarities with previously released films. Vamshi Paidipally ensured there is some attraction in every scene to prevent viewers from getting frustrated. Although freshness is missing, He succeeded in making the movie engaging to some extent.

College Episode is the most entertaining, engaging and refreshing aspect about 'Maharshi'. New Look and Body Language of Mahesh Babu is pleasing to watch in these scenes. This Youthful Episode is racy but there isn't much story in this part. Mahesh offers a monotonous feeling be it in the scenes in which he wore suits or formal dress. The actual story begins in the Second Half. An episode of Mahesh extending support to his Friend who is fighting against a Corporate Firm looks artificial because of too many cinematic liberties.

The protagonist does nothing much until the Pre-Climax though he reaches the Village with a goal. From then onwards, The pace of the movie picks up and the press meet sequence placed here is impressive. This is where the viewers get emotional but the impact could have been more if the villain role was etched out well. If not for 'Idhe Katha Idhe Katha' song, Climax could have been a mess. This emotional song brings a good feeling among the viewers before they step out of the theatres. Overall, 'Maharshi' has something for each and every section of audience but Vamshi hasn't succeeded in narrating the Journey Of Rishi in a most emotional and engaging manner.

Final Line: Too Preachy!
