Watch Video: NTR fights for Telugu pride!

NT Rama Rao, this name is known for bringing recognition to the entire Telugu community across the globe. Like a revolution, NTR stood rock solid as Telugu pride.

Telugu film industry's first base was Madras. The film industry was growing at a rapid pace and at the same time, there was severe pressure on the industry to move to Hyderabad. Many say NTR and ANR played a crucial role in the shift of the industry.

Watch Video Here:

In the latest promo released, exactly this episode is captured. A known voice recognizes Telugu people as 'Madrasi.' But then NTR argues that Telugu has a culture, language, and questions how can all Telugus be 'Madrasi.'

Cut to the scene, ANR played by Sumanth asks NTR to shift to Hyderabad for an identity.

'NTR - Kathanayakudu' seems to have the right ingredients as said by the makers. Release on January 9th.

NTR Kathanayakudu Review

NTR Kathanayakudu Review

   3.5/5
2 Hrs 51 M | Biopic | 2019-01-09
CAST
Cast: Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, Sumanth, Kalyan Ram, Rana, Prakash Raj, Daggubati Raja, and others
Director - Krish
Producer - Balakrishna, Vishnu, Sai K
Banner - NBK Films
Music - MM Keeravani
The most awaited biopic of NTR is out in theaters now. The first part of the late legendary actor-leader's NTR Kathanayakudu focused on the actor's rise as a superstar and his celebrated life as an actor.

What is it about?

Ramarao (Balakrishna), an aspiring actor comes to Madras in the hoping becoming a big actor. After initial struggles, he gets his first break with the film Pathala Bhairavi. Despite his celebrated life, he is always concerned about common people and their problems. After doing many legendary characters on screens, he decides to give it back to society. He steps into politics and launches a party named Telugu Desam.

Performances:

Balakrishna comes up with a convincing performance as NTR. He is quite impressive in many getups that looked good on the later actor. This is a wonderful tribute from a son to his father. His performance in the emergency episode is simply superb. Vidya Balan has a very limited role but makes her presence felt. Sumanth is good as ANR. Rana appears in a couple of scenes as Chandrababu Naidu. Prakash Raj and Murali Sharma are good in their respective roles. Daggubati Raja as NTR's brother is believable. There are many popular actors who appeared in cameo roles and everyone did their bit.

Technicalities:

Krish has so much story to tell because there are two important phases in the life of NTR. It is not easy to squeeze in everything  into a three hour film, which is why it is divided into two parts. Krish's work is very impressive in bringing the most celebrated actor's life on to screen. He didn't miss out on real life drama in NTR's life in spite of showcasing many important movies and roles that he played on screen. Krish's direction is particularly impressive in dramatic scenes.

Songs are restricted to the background and it is Keeravani's background score that elevates the drama. Cinematography is terrific. The way the cinematographer played with the shadows and dark lit backgrounds is a treat to watch. Editing is strictly okay as there are a few lags that would have been edited out. Dialogues by Sai Madhav are fabulous. Production design is clap worthy. Production values are splendid.

Pros:

Balakrishna

Some emotional sequences

Reveal of Sri Krishna getup

Emergency sequence

Cinematography

Direction

Cons:

Too lengthy

Slows down at some parts

Analysis:

Krish should have worked on a screenplay where he could have fit both the political and film phases of NTR into one film. The real drama and challenges in NTR's life comes in his political innings, which is not shown in the first part. This part completely focuses upon how NTR entered the film industry and how he attained stardom. It also showcases his concern for downtrodden people and his love towards Telugu pride.

The story begins with NTR's wife recollecting memories of her husband while she has been admitted to a hospital. Although NTR's talent was spotted by some of the top names in the industry, getting the first break didn't come easy. He gets his first break with Pathala Bhairavi after going through initial hurdles and later takes some revolutionary decisions like making a movie on Ravana and also taking up direction.

All the scenes from classic movies like Gundamma Katha, Bandipotu, Mayabazar etc. are brought onto the screen with absolute conviction. Balakrishna looked too good in almost all the getups of NTR. But the real icing on the cake is Lord Sri Krishna's getup, which is also one of the best scenes in the movie. There is one iconic scene that shows the actor's dedication levels where trick photography is used to show ten heads of Ravana.

The first half is enjoyable with nice family drama and beautifully recreated scenes from NTR's classics. The second half shows NTR's inclination towards social service and his initial revolt against North Indians treating Telugus as 'Madarasis'. The best scene in the second half is where NTR challenges a police officer during an emergency and takes away the prints of his film against the restrictions. We can expect more such dynamic episodes in NTR - Mahanayakudu. Later, the screenplay loses steam as the director focuses on events that were the reason for NTR's decision to enter politics.

Too much melodrama and slow pace makes it somewhat tedious and the climax lacked the necessary high, but sets the tone for the second part that is due for release in a few weeks. NTR Kathanayakudu is a fine tribute to the legendary actor with decently engaging narrative and some powerful scenes backed by terrific dialogue. It is a treat to Nandamuri fans and a more than satisfying watch for the rest. We can't wait for the second part of the legend's remarkable journey towards glory.

Final Verdict: The Rise of Indian Cinema's First Superstar

Senior Heroine to Play Lakshmi Parvathi In Balayyas NTR?

With the announcement of Ram Gopal Varma, there are new rumors that mushroomed in Film Nagar, with the sole intention of slinging mud on Balayya's #NTR biopic. But the truth is far from what anyone could guess.

Apparently, a promotion has started where they are saying, #NTR Mahanayakudu and Kathanayakudu will only have a positive angle of NT Rama Rao, while Varma's Lakshmi's NTR will be their sequel that shows the legend's downfall. And they added that the two films being brought up by Balayya won't have Lakshmi Paravathi role.

A birdie from the sets of #NTR Biopic being carved by Krish and Balayya tells us that there is no truth in this rumour. Because, the makers have already roped in a former heroine, actress Aamani to play the role of Lakshmi Parvathi in their movie. Especially that scene where she wrote poetry on NTR and flattered him will give goosebumps, the source said.

Frankly speaking, biopics are usually made to impress coming generations but not to spread negativity. So whether there is Lakshmi Parvathi's character is there or not, it is unethical to spread such gossips, isn't it?

First Look: Rakul As Sridevi - Mismatch!

Makers of 'NTR' kept receiving praises for the kind of makeovers they offered to the Star Cast so far. Unfortunately, They were unable to make Rakul Preet Singh lookalike Sridevi. This is why there is the mixed response for the First Look of Rakul.

Of course, Rakul Preet Singh looks drop-dead gorgeous as usual. But, Does she resembles like the Evergreen Beauty? May be not! Krish did make a conscious attempt to make her look like Sridevi by focusing on eyes. Still, Nobody can be Sridevi no matter how much efforts might have gone into the transformation.

The get-up of Rakul suggests Krish could be including the iconic rain song (Aaku Chaatu Pinde Tadise) of NTR & Sridevi from 'Vetagadu' in the biopic.

Balayyas Temper: See The Other Side

For the last few years, film star and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has been occasionally making headlines for wrong reasons. Balayya often lands in controversies for slapping and kicking are behaving rudely with his fans. During the recent roadshow in Khammam, Balayya hit his fans and even his loyal fans got angry and burned his flexies.

Going into the story, the old man in the pictures is said to be suffering from cancer for a long time. He couldn't afford the medical expenses and that's when he decided to make an appeal to Balayya when he came to know that the actor was shooting in a nearby place.

The old man did manage to meet Balakrishna and explained his plight. Moved by the old man's condition, Balayya immediately called the staff at the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad and told them that the old man is his fan and that they should provide him the best treatment for free. A touching gesture indeed!

NTR Biopic - Two Parts In Two Weeks!

Since few months, Reports of NTR Makers planning to release the Biopic in two parts kept doing rounds. Even few media houses offered extensive coverage to this unofficial buzz.

As per the latest update, NTR Biopic will release in Two Parts. While Part 1 covering NTR's Childhood, Film Entry & Rise to Super Stardom releases on January 9th of 2019, Part 2 which is slated to hit screens on January 25th of 2019 is all about the political career of Telugus Pride.

Trade Pundits say, Releasing Part 1 and Part 2 within the short gap is very risky from an investors point of view. Why because Part 2 will have to be screened in most of the theatres which screened Part 1. This strategy might work only if the recovery of investment in Part 1 happens at a rapid pace.

Releasing Two Parts of a prestigious project within a gap of Two Weeks is a daring to move. Let's see if this experiment works out or fails!
