Father of the Nation and one of the heroes of India's independence movement, Mahatma Gandhi, died on January 30, back in 1948.
India marks the death anniversary of Gandhi as Martyrs' Day, as Bapu took significant steps which led to the country's freedom from the oppressive British colonial rule.
Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on January 30, 1948, at the age of 78 by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu fanatic, is remembered even today for his deeds, words, bravery, and heroism.

1. Ram Nath Kovind
The official Twitter handle of the President of India tweeted, "On Martyrs’ Day, we gratefully remember Mahatma Gandhi and the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their all for our Independence #PresidentKovind"
2. Narendra Modi
Narendra Modi while paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi tweeted, "पूज्य बापू को उनकी पुण्यतिथि पर शत् शत् नमन। Remembering Bapu on his Punya Tithi. We reiterate our commitment to follow the path shown by him and abide by the values he stood for."
"We salute all the martyrs who laid down their lives for India. The country remains eternally grateful to them for their service and sacrifice," he added
3. Rahul Gandhi
While remembering the great words by Bapu, Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and wrote, "'एक समाज की महानता और प्रगति इस बात से लगायी जा सकती है कि वहां कमजोर और असुरक्षित सदस्यों के साथ कैसा व्यवहार किया जाता है।' - महात्मा गांधी बापू को उनकी पुण्यतिथि पर शत्-शत् नमन। #MahatmaGandhi"
